Dogs - June 2007

I have a Doberman Pinscher that's almost 6 months old (will be 6 months on the 20th of June) and I can currently feeding him about 1 cups 3 times a day on Iams for large breed puppies, but he is never satisfied. Numerous times he has knocked the lid off the container I have his food in and gorges until he can barely walk. Then he just passes out for a few hours.
He will probably mature to 90 pounds or so, but he is currently 35. He was malnurished when I first got him. He only weighed 27 pounds and was infested with fleas and tape worms. He was also the runt of the litter, so I'm assume he had to fight for his food which would explain why he is frantic when eating.
So, in closing, should I increase his food intake (if so to how much?) or keep it the same?

3 years ago I puchased two sisters from a breeder in CA. I have since then purchased a male and they were bred. Luckily the females came in heat faily closely so I will have 2 litter within a week.

I currently have a 3 week old litter of 6 and Kaylie is expected to have 4 of the precious Frenchies in a weeks time.

I got Kaylie and Ellie for $1900 each and I got E-Jay for $1600. Any ideas how much I should sell the babies for?

The French Bulldog pups will be vaccinated, AKC reg, wormed, flead, microchipped and vet checked.

I AM NOT ADVERTISING TO SELL THEM HERE! I am simply asking how MUCH to sell them for.

I have 2 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels that am thinking of breeding together but was curious about what it entails with all the health testing required before breeding? How much does it cost? What is involved in the actual testing? Thanks. :)

My puppy is a border collie, lab and husky mix and is aprox. 7 months old. She constantly bites people thinking that she is just playing but often becomes very vicious and violent. I'm running out of options and do not want to resort to shock collars. Please help!

I have run into a marital situation that has paralyzed my financially cut off. I rescue as many dogs as I can and thanks to the contributions of a new rescue, my responsiblity of ten dogs doubled. All of this is happening at the exact time of year when they are all due for shots, wormer, frontline, heartguard, etc. Not to mention the special care that required a financial commitment before the new pups,.... A Doberman blinded by Diabetes and needs insulin twice a day....an elderlyn Border Collie/Dalmation mix that has a weight problem which contributes to his arthritis pain,....a Chow mix that suffers from periodic seizures, ....a St. Bernard/ mix that has a severe skin condition that I am constantly having tested to locate the cause., but meanwhile has to take steroids and medicateed baths. etc....
With a total of 20 dogs that need vaccinations, wormed, frontline and heartguard, is there any suggestions that might be able to help me without resorti

Bear has always had issues with his hind quarters. It was only recently I noticed that he was slow getting up. He has always had a limp after running, but lately it has seemed to go away. Today on our walk, he was really slow and started somewhat limping. When he does run he does the whole "bunny hop" thing. I am so scared that he may have it. Bear is my life and I would do anything for him but as a military family, the cost of surgery would greatly hurt us. I was just wondering if anyone knew if the surgery could even be performed on a puppy over 1 year and if so, what are the best options and some cost estimates? Thanks

I earlier posted about a GSD temprament problem and NOBODY gave a response to help. What happend to all the GOOD advice from the people who KNEW what they are doing!!!! If any of you know anything about GSDs that show you'd know that they are the ONLY breed that need a temprament test at a confromation dog show! One and for some of you who are a little "slow" GSD means German Shepherd Dog! Where is Torbay Newfs when you need her?!?!? I am very disapointed with some people who let there MUTTS get pregnant becouse they are to ignorant to keep there dog in there yard!!! Also why would you ask on how many times you need to check on your whelping *****???????? Isn't it commin sence that you STAY WITH HER until she is done??? How would you like to be delivering a few kids with no help becouse the doctor dosn't know when to check on you??? I know I wouldn't be ok with that!!!!!! I will not ask for advice here anymore till I find some people who know what they are doing!!!

The "peta kills" websites are owned and operated by a lobbying group for corporations that kill and abuse animals

This guy

http://www.consumerdeception.com

he gets paid millions (thru his group CCF Center for consumer Freedom) to smear all kinds of humane groups, including Peta

They quite bluntly want to stifle exposure of their abuses

(CCF also smears MADD for the liquor industry and works for Big Tobacco)

so why doesn't he reveal his money sources, money amounts, and interests?

I've had my Maltese for about 4 months now and he has been fully potty trained ever since we got him, he knows where the puppy pads are, he got neutered this Saturday and we also got a new puppy the same day. Now my Maltese poops and pee's everywhere since Saturday, could it be because he got neutered or the new puppy in the house?

I just bought our jack russell terrier yesterday, and the breeder said he has just turned 6 weeks. I wasn't sure of what questions to ask before buying the pup, but he said that he should be ready for worming anytime. I know he also needs a checkup and his shots. When is the best time to begin all of his shots? Also, since he hasn't been vaccinated for parvo, we've been letting him use puppy pads in conjunction with crate training. Am I going about house breaking him correctly?

Thanks!

My 4yo yorkie is being weird. She is fixed and fine. I take her out side and she normally lisens to me then today I was like Daisy Duke get over here and she ran in my nabors yard and gave me a look like haha loser. So I finally got her and took her in and she dosent want to play any more I would always play "ball" or "tug a war".

I'm training my dog to do some agility stuff. Not for competition or anything, just for fun.

I have her going over single and double hurdles pretty good. Then next thing I want to teach her is the weave poles. I stuck some poles in the ground, stuck a treat on a stick and made her follow the stick that I weaved through the poles.

It didn't go how I wanted it to. She was scared of the poles, so I didn't try anything else because I didn't really know what I was doing anyway.

Any body have tips they could give me on how I should approach this?

Thanks!!

She's a really smart dog. We just taught her how to play "red Light - Green Light" and were wondering if there were some other cute tricks that I could teach her so that I can keep her mind busy.
