My puppy is a border collie, lab and husky mix and is aprox. 7 months old. She constantly bites people thinking that she is just playing but often becomes very vicious and violent. I'm running out of options and do not want to resort to shock collars. Please help!

For the nipping try this. This method helped me allot. It has given me much better results than the many other methods I have tried. This was written for Corgi puppies but it applies to most all puppies. Once you get the web page up scroll down to were it talks about nipping.

This is not a good behavior and needs to stop now. You need to get her to a training class or have a private trainer come out to you. Don't get a shock collar unless you know how to use it, that could make the problem worse.

I would suggest visiting yahoogroups. com and searching for forums in dog behavior training, there are great pro trainers there that will be happy to offer help. Also, I've included an article by Dr. Ian Dunbar on bite inhibition... well worth the read.

Puppies go through teething just as babies do. I would suggest trying chew toys and toys you can play tug of war with. Let her know that toys are acceptable behavior, but when nipping people, poke her firmly with your five fingertips on her neck behind her ears so she learns what is unacceptable behavior. If this doesn't work, try a pet trainer. Border collies are one of the smartest breeds of dog you can get.

When she bites, immediately grab her by the scruff of the neck and lift up and tell her no very firmly and give her a slight shake. That is what her mom would do. We have a 7 month old pup that is a bit bitey and doing this has really gotten our point across. It usually only takes a few times and she will get the hint.

If she's becoming violent, you need to seek the help of a professional trainer or behaviorist. Good luck.

use lemons

or u could get a brick n smash it in the face or the toes or its tail everytime it bites
u could possibly jst throw it across the room if i cant find nething to smash it with

and a much easier solution would b 2 jst bash its teeth out or pull them out wit sum pliers so it can no longer bite =)

Than she was raised as a violent puppy you hire a trainer that could probably train her with someone that would train her for at least 2 hrs if you can do that than do so.

When she does this, you hold her snout and say NO biting.
Be sure you have a pocket full of things she can bite. so that she learns what things are ok to chew on and what arn't
