First thing is you need to treat the house, yard. treat mom, you can use frontline on her.
for the puppies you can get the spry of frontline or there is some shampoos at the pet stores.
I have used BIO GUARD "won't wash out spot-on flea and tick protection"

The main one I use is DE FLEA PET SHAMPOO
this is made form NATURAL CHEMISTRY.
this stuff works good.
You have to do something, Even if it is given baths in just plain water every day. If you do nothing they will get all there blood sucked from them and worst case die.
But you have to treat the all the bedding and everything, If you just bath them and not take care of the place around them then the other fleas will just jump on them again. It will be a never ending battle.

I would speak to you vet about this one - 3 weeks is far too young to use any flea treatments or to bath them to drown the fleas :-( With the mother still feeding them you will not be able to treat her either (although you could bath her with ordinary dog shampoo and comb the fleas as you go)

The only thing that I can think of is to very gently comb them out and to boil wash ALL bedding.

You should also confine the mum and pups to one room, preferably one without soft flooring or furnishings, and then use a household flea spray on the rest of the house to kill lurking fleas and eggs (I use a brand called Staykill which I buy online and that works brilliantly with just one application). Keep mum and pups confined for 48 hours after treatment and make sure you air the house well before you let her back in again.

My puppies had the same problem and a lot of the litter died because they had too many fleas. What I did, though was buy the metal combs that are used for lice and when I took them a bath and they were soapy still (so that the fleas won't jump on you as easily), I ran the comb through their fur and this helped to get rid of the fleas. It really did work. You do need to spray their living area with flea killer spray, though, otherwise it will be pointless and the fleas will never go away.

Unfortunately they are too young to come in contact with the chemicals used to kill fleas effectively so your best recourse until they are older is to do some manual damage control. Change the bedding every day and wash it in hot water with borax. Try flea combing the puppies and drowning the fleas in a tub of water you keep nearby. Also at night you can set up a light with a pan of water under it, the fleas will jump into the water and drown. That's about the best you can do until they are old enough to use a more effective method.

Your best bet is to wash your little pups in dial liquid hand soap. Since your puppy is to young to take any type of flea medication or strong flea repellent...you must be careful on what products you use on the pups, or it could cause a fatal allergic reaction. I'm not trying to scare you, but its the truth. Wash them in this once a week till they are 6-8 weeks old, and then take them to your vet for some flea prevention. You must understand, fleas aren't only just a pet problem..but also an environmental problem...if you don't fix your living area first...the fleas will keep coming back...even with just frontline medication from your doctor, it will take at least 3 months to kill all fleas. Good luck! If you ever have questions...don't be afraid to ask me. I have tons of experience as a Veterinary Technician in Austin TX.

It's unfortunate the amount of people who think washing is the only way to get rid of fleas on puppies. I also SCREAM whenever I hear the words 'Dawn Dish Soap'. AAAAAAARRRRRRRGHHHHHHH!

Go to your vet for some proper treatment. Frontline SPRAY (not spot-on) is safe for use on puppies and kittens from 2 days of age. Yes, 2 days.

Listen - dish soap only washes off the fleas that are currently on your dog! There's no POINT because the fleas will be in your house too. Fleas produce a ridiculous amount of eggs everyday and they drop of the animals and hatch in your carpets and sofas. Therefore you need to spray your house - again, with a spray from a vets. If you just wash the pups in dish soap, fleas will be back on your pup within about 24 hours, so please go to your vet for some proper treatment.

Use dawn dishwashing liquid the original kind. It kills fleas instantly and then you can just wash them down the drain. You can also get a product called adams flea spray make sure you get the water based kind its safe for newborn pups(dont use the one with the growth regulator in it.) It can be found in most feed shops and I believe walmart has started selling it. If the pups eyes are opened make sure you put a drop of mineral oil in each eye this will help keep the soap out so you can wash the puppies face.

Please take the pups to a vet to be treated! Ask the vet about what to do for fleas in the house. Puppies that young can be made ill or even die from chemicals used. Be very careful and please see a vet. good luck...

Give your puppies a bath with lemon dish detergent. The detergent will make the fleas unable to move around and you can comb them off.
