Does he know the "leave it" and "drop it" commands? If not, start teaching them. They can go a long way in helping to deter him. Our BMC mix used to try to eat everything, but after telling him "drop it" (for things that were already in his mouth), and "leave it" (for things I saw him showing interest in), helped him to realize that those things are off-limits. He still picks up odd things from time-to-time, but he's reliable in his response to "drop it". I just have to keep an eye on him.

So what kind of stuff is he munching on?

OK, does munching mean chewing? If so, is he doing this while you're away? Because that's anxiety. Try kenneling him (we don't have room for a kennel, so we would just put Cooper in the bathroom) while you're away so that he doesn't have access to things he can destroy. And if you catch him already in the act, pick up whatever he was chewing on, hold it up to his face, and give a firm "NO!" Then replace the object with someone he CAN chew on. Make sure he has plenty of options (rubber chew toys, rawhide bones, etc.).

tazer gun

the problem won't solve easily if he is used to go chompy since he was a puppy. the thing is, as you try to keep him busy, you're actually encouraging him to do the chompy stuff (you're playing with him and he's having the time of his life, why should he stop from doing that?)

try to put flavors on the things he chews that are nasty-tasting to him. that should do the trick

Buy a bunch of chewies and bones and have them scattered around your place. He will soon learn what is ok to chew on if you be sure to give him praise when chewing on the right things.

I have a boxer(same age) and does the same thing I try to alarm him when she does it so she will be afraid of the thing shes chewing on.
