I have a 2 yr. old yellow lab that I found about 5 months ago. She checked out at the vet and no one has claimed her thus far. But, I can't stop her digging! We go for walks, play, she has her own chew toy. How can I make her stop?

So I cooked too much bonless turkey breasts tonight for the family. Figured why not just make some meals for the dogs out of it. I have 2 shih tzu's, they eat Iams right now.

What are some recipes? Nothing too complicated, I heard cutting it up, mixing in some carrots, peas, oatmeal... and other stuff is good?

Should I also mix in some of their dry forumla. I'd love to start feeding them homemade meals. So any help is needed. Thanks!

She is 5 1/2 mo. and has had a rough start due to the inhumane treatment from her breader. She had developed Blisters under her neck, chest and front legs. She will scratch and they ooze and bleed. My first thought was sarcoptic mange, but I dipped her last week and it is spreading. Any thoughts. I plan to take her to be checked after the weekend, but wish I could do something now.

I just got my puppy a week ago and shes now 13 weeks. Shes a full blooded white german shepherd with papers and shes very smart. Nearly evrytime take her outside she gots does her thing but she still poops and pees in the house. I praise her every time and she knows going inside is a bad thing because as soon as she does it she tries to hide from me. Any tips on how to break this? Also if I raise my voice the pees because shes scared. How do I break this as well.

Ive heard that abused dogs "leak" when they are scared but I do not beat her and she came from an amish family so I'm pretty sure they didn't hurt the puppies either. Any advice would be appreciated.

The vet thinks there is a tumor in her sinus although the xrays were inconclusive for a defined mass--he gives her 3-4 months to live if this is what it is. She's on steroids, nose spray and 2 antibiotics.......does anyone else out there have a dog that has gone through this? Is there anything else I can do for my Sandee other than wait for her to get worse? Please help........

My dog had one by accident - he found it on the floor - and he loved it! Now everytime I hold on and get ready to eat it he sits down and acts as if I am holding a treat for him. Is it safe for him to eat these. There is no artificial sugar.
Ingredients are:
SORBITOL
MALIC ACID
TARTARIC ACID
MALITITOL
MALTODEXTRIN
ASPARTAME
CITRIC ACID
MAGNESIUM STEARATE
MEDIUM CHAIN TRIGLYCERIDES
GUM ACACIA
SOY LECITHIN
BLUE 1
RED 40
YELLOW 5
YELLOW 6
NEOTAME
PHENYLALANINE
And that's all!

My basset hound's eyes are red and her nose is dry and warm even though she's been awake quite a while. She's acting normal but I'm concerned. I know bassets get a lot of ear infections - could this be a sign of infection, or any other sickness? Or am I worried over nothing? Please help! Thanks!

I live in Wallan, Victoria (Australia) and my family and I have decided to get our first dog. We have seen pet store pups and were interested in a Siberian Husky but they cost $1200 at the pet shop. We were thinking of getting either:
Siberian Husky, Dalmation or a Airedale Terrier.
I'm a school teacher and I work from 8am-3:30pm, my hubby is a plumber who works 7am-4pm and I have 3 kids aged 13, 11 and 8. My kids have been around dogs before and we have all decided to get one. We have a medium sized home and a very big fenced in backyard.

What breed should we get?
I have NO idea where to get our puppy from. I've checked the paper and a few websites but nobody has a puppy available yet.
Where should I get one?
What is the average price for each breed I have listed above?
Beside the breeds I listed, which breed do you think we should get? We don't want a Beagle, Boxer, Cocker Spaniel, German Shepard, Collie, Lab or Golden Retriever!
PS. we have 1 male fixed indoor cat.

He is 4.4lbs and 4 months old. I am SOOO worried something bad is going to happen with the anecisia (I know its spelled wrong but spell checker isn't working)

Anyway, I don't know what to do because i'll never forgive myself if something happens to him.

Does anyone know how I can find out the odds of complications with anicesia?

What are your experences with this?

I have two puppies that are about to turn 6 weeks old. These were abandoned dogs I resued at 4 weeks. If you would like to know more of the story behind these dogs please check out my other questions :-)

Right now I have them in our laundry room which is large and open (no door access) with a baby gate up to keep them in. On one side I have made them a comfy bed that has a solid blanket that I change once a day...on the other side is the newspaper that they go to the bathroom on, which I change several times a day, unless it needs imediate change due to feces. They love that area!

I let them out to eat (the kitchen is very large and connects to the laundry room) then they go to the bathroom and then play, when they are ready to lay down they always go straight to thier bed. It is like a safe comfy place to them I guess :-)

I have heard that it is good to kennel train them. They call it thier "second home"? They are Healer/Lab mix and gunna be large. Is this a good idea to do?

They have all had parvo shots. I think they dug up a pup i had a couple of months ago that died of the same symptoms and were eating on it, we thot it was parvo but now i'm not so sure. they can't keep anything in. I took them to the vet and had her do a fecal exam and she couldn't find any parasites, she gave me an antibiotic to give them, but it's not working, i don't know what else to do, i can't afford to have extensive testing on them. They get sick and only last 2 to 3 days. Please help if you have any idea!

I have this JRT which I train to obey me. After i ensure it react on my command, i bring it out.

I unleash it and it start to run around. But when i gave the command to come back to me, it ignore me. (it react to my comand in the house)

Thus I hate to bring it out.
The main reasons are I don't want it to run to the road and distrub people.

any advice?
Thanks

In a nutshell, my dog has just been diagnosed with bone cancer. He lost two of his friends to the same thing, so I know basically how it goes. Zeke has a great life and will continue to do so. He is a reading therapy dog and loves to sit and listen to kids read. I am trying to hold on to grieving after he is gone. I believe he is just a dog and lives for the moment. I am not going to treat him as a dying dog for remainder of his life. But as a human I am looking ahead and wondering how much time he has left. I know that no one will be able to give a definitive answer. And I know this goes fast. But how fast?

He is a very strong Rottweiler and rarely shows any discomfort. He is excited to go anywhere despite his major head bobbing when he walks. And please don't feel sad for us...we are going to have a regular great old time until the end.
