By the way, the dogs HAVE been checked by the vet and have been okayed to breed. We planned this pregnancy because we wanted to breed these wonderful animals and share them with other families. We already have possibly 2 given away to reliable family members. We also have several options already for selling them but wanted some more input. We will probably sell the males for $400 and the females for $500 in case anyone wants a puppy.

I really dont understand what everbody's problem is with us breeding our dogs. People do it all the time and we are doing this because we love our breed and want to share that with other warm families. We are NOT using them as a "cash cow" as that 'FREEDOM" jerk said. We would keep all the puppies and raise them ourselves if they were going to end up in a puppy mill or whatever. We are not horrible people as you all seem to think. It's ludacris to me. If you think these dogs are going to be SO mistreated then why dont you buy one for yourself !! And by the way, these puppies and the parents are all registered in the way they should be and have had all the tests and things needed to assure the parents are both healthy. We take great care of our pets and its horrible for someone to think otherwise just because i ask a simple question about avenues to sell them. Good grief, grow up !

You can sell them in your local paper, on craigslist, or on-line at one of the puppy sale sites. I would recommend checking people out a little though. My Mom bred Goldens and she made everyone sign a contract with all their information on it. They had to agree to give her first right of refusal if they ever got rid of the dog.
good luck!

We have papers on them.... Famous words of a back yard breeders!
News Flash.. papers don't mean squat. They certainly do not mean quality. Papers means they are registered and that is it. The regsitry has no clue what was bred, what the dogs look like or if they even conform to the standard. Many people for some reason think that PAPERS means something special and wonderful about their dogs and it doesn't.
Your vet saying the dogs are healthy enough to breed is a far cry from knowing the health done through testing and pedigree research. You really do not have a clue what you are doing and I think you need to think about your precious babies hard when you are selling them for a pocket full of change.. just remember that anyone of them might end up in a puppy mill or shelter or be mistreated... oh never mind.. what do you care what happens to them... they are cash cow for you so why would you give a crap if th cycle continues.

1) after this litter of puppies get your dog spayed please.
2) you should have had homes ready for the puppies PRIOR to breeding
3) were the parents vet checked and health checked through the bloodlines for genetic problems before breeding, that would be what a RESPONSIBLE breeder would have done.
4) have you made appointments for the puppies to be vet checked, recieve first shots, etc already?
5) You should microchip the puppies that way if ANY of them are lost/stolen, taken from an irresponsible owner, or just dropped off at the pound you can be notified and make sure they are found a new loving and hopefully permanent home for them. Too many dogs are given away to irresponsible owners daily and wind up euthanised in a shelter. Do the responsible thing by thes puppies by finding them responsible homes and then do the responsible thing period by having your dogs spayed/nuetered. Thank you.

You can list them in the newspaper. You can let your local chapter of the AKC or the CKC know that the puppies are available. You can let local vets know that the puppies are ready to be adopted. If there is a local Italian Greyhound Group, you can let them know that you have puppies available so they can pass the information on to prospective families.
I would DEFINITELY set up an adoption protocol where you closely screen the families who apply for your puppies. You want to make sure that this family is suitable for adopting the special personality traits of an Italian Greyhound. Otherwise, the dog may be abandoned or turned in to a local animal shelter or pound.
I used to volunteer as a Foster Mom for a local small breed animal shelter and you'd be surprised how many AKC and CKC dogs were turned in because the family hadn't been prepared for the idiosyncrasies of a particular breed.

First of all, did you check you dogs papers to see if their registrations are limited? The breeder you got your dogs from should have explained it to you (if they were reputable)
If they are limited, that means the AKC does NOT have to register the litter and that they shouldnt have been bred in the first place. Most people wont want to pay that sort of money for an unregistered animal. If they arent limited, then you need to check out other breeders to see what they are getting for a pup. When they are born you need to send for their registration papers. Put an ad in your local paper, but beware of posting on the internet, that is asking for trouble. By the way, they sound like beautiful dogs.

The best and most responsible way to sell the pups is to draw up a contract for your potential buyers. make sure that any buyers that are not intending onshowing or breeding the pups sign a spay/neuter agreement, and that you as a breeder can take the dogs back from the person who bought them if they are EVER unable to keep the dog.
As far as finding people to buy, your best bet is ask around. Go to petsmart and other quality pet stores and see if they have a board to post your upcomming litter announcement. Or use the paper. But finding a great home home for your pups, means alot of interviews with the potential buyer.
Hopr this was helpful.

First of all since the parents have papers you need to contact AKC http://www.akc.org you are going to want to register the litter. AKC will send you the paper work to get that done. Once the litter is registered then you'll have pups with papers and each puppy's new owner gets their blue slip. It would be nice if you also put a pedigree together, AKC can help you with that as well. It's always nice to give the people that as well along with the blue slip that they'll send in to get their papers. As far as selling them, let your vet know that the puppies are for sale. Contact your dog's breeder and let them know you have puppies on the way. Good luck with it all;^)

You should call the breeder you got your IGs from, and ask if she has anyone looking for puppies that she could point them in your direction. She would know her dogs and the quality, she would likely have a few people she could send your way.. Should have thought of the home thing before breeding them.

First of all i would put an add in your local classified, stating that puppies are for sale.
Put the ad in when they are about 4 weeks old, This gives you 4 weeks before they have to leave the mother.
Just state that the puppies will be ready for pick on ..........(date).
This is what i have done with my huskies. They are just obver 4 weeks old and i have already taken deposits on 6 of them (2 more left to go)
