It is best to start training your puppy immediately once you get him so he doesn't learn any bad habits. You start with the basics, house training, crate training, sit, stay and come. This way you are consistent and don't confuse the dog with conflicting commands. You can take the dog to most obedience classes starting at 10 weeks. Petsmart has very good dog classes.
The age at which a dog goes from puppy to dog depends on the breed. Large dogs don't live as long and are usually considered adult at 12 months, smaller dogs live longer and can be anywhere from 12 months to 2 years before they are considered an adult dog. Hope this helps you out some!

MOst dogs are considered adults ay 1 year of age. Large breed dogs not until 2 years old.
Training should start the minute you bring the pup home then off to puppy kindergarden at 8 weeks old. then more training after that.
A well trained dog is a happy dog!

If you are asking when does the puppy advance to the adult stage, my guess is when it becomes a year old. As far as training, start training your puppy as soon as you get one. Work with the pup about 10 minutes on the hour or 10 minutes a day. The pup is easily distracted and tires. The first things a pup is worked with is response to the name and potty trained.

Depends on the breed.. Large breed dogs tend to take longer to mature and reach their adult size..
Start training basics immediately, housetraining, crate training, manners, etc.. As soon as possible!

18 to 24 months, depending on size. (The bigger the longer it takes) Start training the basics right away. Their attention span will be spotty at first, but it's still good to start.
