We found a little pick-a-poo looking dog just left at a park, with some food on the ground. I couldn't help but take him home and bathe him, and I am taking him to the vet later for a check up & shots. This is a sweet dog. He uses the litter box, he doesn't bark at strangers, and comes up to love on you a lot. Shame on people who abandon their pets who don't do anything but love you. We call him Chain now and he has a good home and big yard to play in now with 2 other dogs his size.

My 9 week old puppy just got her shots on Wed. and her front legs have been slowly getting larger. Is this normal? Will it go away? If so, how long will it last?

I am calling the vet, they are not open right now and will open shortly, I just wanted to see if this is normal. thanks a bunch

I am planning on going on vacation soon for about a week and have never had my dogs boarded. Any way to ease the stress on them and me? My dogs are 11 and two years old. They have NEVER been away from us for over 8 hours!

I have two dogs that live outside. I took them to the groomers and afterwards I began to see flees in the car and on me! I would like to get them out of the car.

How can I stop my Golden Retriever from munching on my ornamental grasses. I know that all dogs tend to eat grass at times but she seems very partial to my ornamental ones. I could fence them off but they are all planted around my pond feature and a fence would be unsightly. Any ideas please.

My dog is a border collie/aussie shepherd mix, and there is something wrong with his back leg. He yelps when I touch it, and it feel like theres a small indentation or somthing on the upper part that isnt there on the other leg. He jumped over the back of an armchair and it seemed like his leg caught on the back of the chair when he jumped. Could this have something to do with it? He is walkin okay, and he is eating and drinking and he can lay on that side, but he seems to be in pain. I am between paychecks and cant afford a big vet bill right now. (Please dont be mean, I feel awful) What should I do? What might be wrong? Thanks!

I am looking into adopting a puppy with a malformed front left paw. The breeder so far seems to be ethical although I have not been able to visit her home yet. She is "giving" the dog to me under condition that I sign a contract to have her spayed as soon as she is old enough, and if at any time I cannot take care of her, I must return her to the breeder to be re-homed. I am reimbursing her for veterinary expenses such as vaccinations.

This is what the breeder has told me about the puppy - she is the runt of a 10 pup litter with 7 surviving. There were many difficulties in the birth of this litter. The dog is from champion lines (I will research this to make sure) and is capable of being AKC registered. The breeder is of the opinion that she simply did not have enough room in the womb to grow, and as a result she has the defect as well as the extremely small size.

A question for Chihuahua breeders: Is this common in large litters, or should I watch out for other defects as well?

I know some of you on here are doberman owners/breeders and i want to know after you get their ears cropped (if you decide to go that route) do they have to wear the collar/cone around their neck to keep them from messing with their ears or will they be alright without it? my vet says to keep one on mine but the breeder that i got my dobe from says they don't make their pups wear the protective collar....so should i only put it on him when i can't watch him, like while he's in his crate asleep, or just leave it on him all the time?
also, sorry this is like a side question but i went with a crop between a medium and a show cut. Anyone with a dobie with show cut or longer cut ears and if so how long did it take them to stand?
Thnks

My 7 year old Shih tzu was brought into the vet today and they found that he has tapeworms. He hasn't had fleas since he's lived with me, but had a bad infestation when my parents owned him. The vet gave him a shot and said I'd need to come back in 3 weeks for a followup. Right now, my dog is spazzing out and barking and scratching. I understand that the worms are uncomfortable, but after 3 nights of barking, I need some sleep. At night, he seems to only calm down when I'm petting him. About how long will it be until he starts feeling better and is there anything I can do to calm him down?

ok, so my labrador is ten years old. he isn't purebred, though thats how we purchased him, we were misled and believe him to be a mix of predominantly black lab, dalmation, and pitbull. back to the point, at this age should he slow down dramatically and have nearly no desire to play? In the mornings when i leave for class he always growls with me and talks back and gets very excited, but by the time im home in the early afternoon he barely gets off his bed to greet me. he won't chase a ball anymore. he won't play tug of war. he will still wrestle with me but tires quickly. i am worried. is this a normal age for this breed to, to put it bluntly, die out? my dog is one of my best friends. some help would be nice... serious answers only please. good answer gets an easy best answer

I called the vet, the pharmacist, poison control, the emergency clinic and they just said to watch her for the next 24 hours. She was breathing a little heavier than usual and eliminated it (going to the bathroom..I hope mostly cause she did have an extra bowel movement.) I guess we'll just keep an eye on her and take her to the vet if she does anything out of the ordinary. The vet did have concerns about seizures and the pharmacist about stroke..but my dog is acting just normal and now sleeping. Funny thing, I was gonna take her to the 24 hour clinic as it is almost midnight, but she seems fine. I will let you know if anything out of the ordinary develops.

How long should I expect my 16 wk old pup to be housetrained. She has peed and poop everywhere and I always think we are at that point where she can roam around, but then I find surprises. The good thing is that she can hold her pee longer than when we first had her.

My dog has been licking his paws a lot lately and I'm afraid he'll get an infection. How can we get him to stop? My mom hits him or kicks him whenever he does but all that has taught him is to not do it only when she's not around. Any ideas?

My obnoxiously cute puppy (shepherd/lab mix) is only 16 weeks old, but she's turning into a sassy little smart*ss. She keeps looking up at me and saying "You shouldn't have called him 'Fubsy'."

Backstory: The only time I've ever used that word was toward a great guy named Peter Havilland, at Knox Jr High. Peter was big and Fubsy meant fat (I think I found it in a Thesaurus one day). Anyway, this was the only time in my life that I remember bullying someone- I actually HATE bullies, but to Peter, I was a d1ck.

Present: So I can only assume that she’s referring to Peter. I would ask her “I shouldn’t have called WHO fubsy?” And she won’t answer. When I let it go, she waits to brings it back up until I’m on the phone or busy working – she’s REALLY pushing my buttons! Last night she peed in the house (we’re still trying to master potty training) and I caught her in the act. “BAD girl!” I said, “YOU DO NOT GO POTTY IN THE HOUSE!” and the little butt-nugget just looks up at me and screams “Well YOU shouldn’t have called him fubsy!” What the Hell’s up with that???

Should I put up with this crap?
Would you tolerate a stupid dog with the gift of speech that only chooses to use it to brandish guilt-trips?
She won’t stop taunting me! What should I do?

(Serious replies only)
