My dog is a border collie/aussie shepherd mix, and there is something wrong with his back leg. He yelps when I touch it, and it feel like theres a small indentation or somthing on the upper part that isnt there on the other leg. He jumped over the back of an armchair and it seemed like his leg caught on the back of the chair when he jumped. Could this have something to do with it? He is walkin okay, and he is eating and drinking and he can lay on that side, but he seems to be in pain. I am between paychecks and cant afford a big vet bill right now. (Please dont be mean, I feel awful) What should I do? What might be wrong? Thanks!

See if it'll pass. I'd give about a week. He maybe fine just sore to the touch like a bruise. If he isn't limping it is more then likely just sore. Hope this helped good luck.

You need to take your dog to the vet. It may be something as simple as a muscle pull but as serious as a broken bone. The problem in waiting if it is a broken bone is it will heal incorrectly and may then need to be re-broken to correct it or cause other lameness down the road. Waiting is not an option. I don't know where you live but another person recommended Care Credit. That is a great source of helping people with the cost of vet bills. Also a lot of your local shelter organizations will link up with others to help with situation just like yours. It will take an effort on your part to find one but most can be done on the phone. Call your shelters, and local vets they will lead you down the right path. Good luck :o))

If your budget it extremely low I would just call the vet and ask him about a pain medication or something you can give him over-the-counter to help him with his pain. You can go pick some up from the vet and it is very cheap like 4-5 bucks. If his symptoms cont to get worse or stay the same I would get him there asap. Ask a friend or family member if you can borrow a little money or maybe the vet will allow you to make small payments.

At least go to the vet and get an idea of what the problem is. You will only have to pay a consult fee. There's no point worrying about 'big vet bills' - it may be that some meds will fix the problem!

One thing's for sure, if you leave it the problem is only going to get worse and therefore more expensive - so if it's money you're worried about, definitely better sooner than later!

Your dog needs medical attention. You need to get it to a vet.
Go to this web site CareCredit.com It is a financing company that works with vets, doctors, dentists, etc. My dog
had to have surgery for a mole that turned into skin cancer,
we had just paid a ton of money to fix our car and didn't have
the funds for a operation. My vet told me about this web site,
and I got 3 months no interest financing for my dog's operation. So she is recovering from something that needed
immediate attention and I have been rescued from financial
disaster. On the web site you can type in the type of
service you need - vet- and either your vet hospital or
the area you live in to find a vet that works with this company.
I really recommend doing this, this will help you to get your dog the medical attention it needs right away without having
to find a big wad of cash. Try it.

Ouch - It sounds like your dog may have sprained his leg. A vet could do nothing about this. Have your dog take it easy for a week or two - no flying over the chair for now. As long as he is eating/pooping/sleeping with no evident pain, I think you can wait. Save some money for a 'rainy day' so if he needs a vet, you can take him without feeling pinched. Good luck.

I think that you should see the vet as soon as possible. He's leg may be dislocated which may cause other problems to arise later on such as arthritis. Besides that your dog must be in pain. I'd call around the vets in your area to see if they have a payment plan that you could use. Most vets are quite good. Just explain that you are in between pays. But do please ask your vet.

He may have dislocated something or pulled a muscle. If you can wait until your next paycheck, I would do so. He probably needs some sort of medical attention. And I should hope that the bill wouldn't be too high for a simple fix of a dislocation, if that's the problem.

Hope everything works out for you guys!

Ouch, Oh my gosh I am so sorry. I have 4 dogs so I know how bad you must feel. Take him to the vet ASAP even if that means you have to wait for your next pay check. Try putting and Ice pack or cloth aound it and be carful that he doesn't run around to much. I really hope your dog gets better.
Good Luck

He may have pulled the muscle a bit. Give him one baby asprin and try to either massage the area or put an ice pack on it while you sit on the floor next to him quietly petting him. If you can massage him start in small circles with not a lot of pressure and gradually increase the pressure. If he is still in pain in 2-3 days then you should take him in to see if he hasn't torn the muscle or a ligament.
