My obnoxiously cute puppy (shepherd/lab mix) is only 16 weeks old, but she's turning into a sassy little smart*ss. She keeps looking up at me and saying "You shouldn't have called him 'Fubsy'."
Backstory: The only time I've ever used that word was toward a great guy named Peter Havilland, at Knox Jr High. Peter was big and Fubsy meant fat (I think I found it in a Thesaurus one day). Anyway, this was the only time in my life that I remember bullying someone- I actually HATE bullies, but to Peter, I was a d1ck.
Present: So I can only assume that she’s referring to Peter. I would ask her “I shouldn’t have called WHO fubsy?” And she won’t answer. When I let it go, she waits to brings it back up until I’m on the phone or busy working – she’s REALLY pushing my buttons! Last night she peed in the house (we’re still trying to master potty training) and I caught her in the act. “BAD girl!” I said, “YOU DO NOT GO POTTY IN THE HOUSE!” and the little butt-nugget just looks up at me and screams “Well YOU shouldn’t have called him fubsy!” What the Hell’s up with that???
Should I put up with this crap?
Would you tolerate a stupid dog with the gift of speech that only chooses to use it to brandish guilt-trips?
She won’t stop taunting me! What should I do?

Let it go. ALL Shepherd/Lab mixes say that exact same sentence, it has nothing to do with your childhood friend/victim.
You should hear what my Schnauzer/Scottie mix says, she swears worse than a sailor with turrets.

Someone is feeling real bad about being a bully and your dog would respond better if you'd say"BAD GIRL" and leave out the" you do not go potty in house" .Praise when doing good! AS far as feeling guilty GET OVER IT NOW, move on , and go play with your dog.

Like any good parent, I'd put her in a time out and take away phone and t.v. privileges for at least a week. They need to learn early to be respectful. Maybe you could explain that you are sorry for calling Peter a Fubsy, and that you will never do that again. We all make mistakes.

Has it been a long time since you have slept? Are there open containers of alcohol around you? Have you smoked weed lately?
These can be reasons for a talking dog.

Your dog actually talks to you, or are you hallucinating? If the first really is the case (which I very seriously doubt, in fact I will bet my life on it) then you can make some major money off that dog....too bad for you huh? The moral of this story is.....

Call Fubsy and apologize. Do a search if you don't have his number, find it and apologize for being a jackass. The pup will be nicer, though I don't know if that will master potty training. :)

Okay first of all....the pup doesn't know what your refuring to. And it sounds like your consience is eating at you. The problem is you not the dog. Maybe you should appologize to this guy. And be nice to the dog. Praise her when shes good and reward her for good behavior. It takes patience.
