You should start taking your puppy to the vet at the age of 6 weeks for distemper, hepatitis, parvo and para influenza and corona vaccines and booster the vaccines every 2 weeks until the puppy is 14-16 weeks of age. Deworming can begin at anytime and we recommend using pyrantal pamoate as well as albon in some breeds to protect against coccidial infections. At 10-12 weeks your can add leptopirosis and bordetella vaccines. At 14-16 weeks of age your puppy should get it's rabies vaccines and have a fecal submitted for examination.

Do NOT use OTC dewormers..they are pretty much worthless plus they are not safe especially for puppies.
Deworming should be done with a vet approved dewormer at 2, 4, 6 & 8 weekso f age.

Vaccinations should start at 8 weeks of age..(Do NOT vaccinate a puppy that has not completed their 7th week, doing so can compromise their immune system, interfer with natural immunity, leave them more suseptible to the very illness they are suppose to protect against and can cause future problems with vaccines)
A puppy should only be vaccinated for distemper/parvo/canine hepatitis/adenovirus-2.

It is recommended that only those puppies/dogs at high risk of exposure should be vaccinated for lepto, parainfluenza.

NO puppy/dog should be vaccinated for coronavirus or adenovirus-1.

To learn more check out Dr. Jean Dodds site, Dr Ron Schultz studies with the University of Wisconsin and the AAHA site. Also get a copy of the Novemeber 2006 Whole Dog Journal..it has a great article on vaccines.

Call and ask your vet. Every vet has their own opinion as to when the pups should have their first office visit. Some say at 6 weeks old other not until 8 weeks old.

worming can start at 2 weeks depending on what you use ask the vet also mom needs to be wormed ask the vet if it's safe now as she nurses she can pass the parasites to the pups.
Most vets can start at 6 weeks but again best to ask your vet.
Good Luck
