The vet thinks there is a tumor in her sinus although the xrays were inconclusive for a defined mass--he gives her 3-4 months to live if this is what it is. She's on steroids, nose spray and 2 antibiotics.......does anyone else out there have a dog that has gone through this? Is there anything else I can do for my Sandee other than wait for her to get worse? Please help........

I am so sorry to hear about your doggie. Nosebleeds are not normal at all for dogs so unfortunately I think your vet may be onto something. Always get a second opinion when it's something this serious though. When my dog had health probs a few months ago we went to my regular vet who is in his late 50's and also another vet who was much younger. This may sound strange but I really felt that we got the benefit of the "old pro" and also the recent grad with newer info on diagnosis and non traditional treatments. Good luck to you!

If you are serious about pursuing this, your vet should refer you to a specialist so that they can use an endoscope to look up his nose and check for a tumor. There are other tests they may run. They may need to biopsy it if they find something. Some tumors can be treated with radiation or chemo. Or, it could be a fungus infection and need specific antifungal treatments. I'd go to a specialist. Other reasons for bloody nose include bleeding disorders, tick diseases. I'm sure there are others.

Actually, There isn`t a huge chance of her living...
Tumors in pet`s are very serious. Escpiacily in older dogs, becasue they`re amune systems aren`t as new as a midfdle aged dog would.
There are treatments available, try some.
Don`t give up hope, and spend as much time with her as you can.
Hope this helps.
