My great dane is home alone for most of the day as we work full time. We got her a dog companion so she doesn't feel so alone! Unfortunately, she still seems to feel abandonned. They stay in a 10 x 10 kennel in our garage! We can't leave the pillows in it as she will shred them to pieces! Recently we invested in some linoleum so they are not on the cement and she even managed to tear a huge hole in it!! What can I do to stop that?

She has been to a vet and tested for parasites and thyroid. They also ruled out allergies and mange as she is not itchy. Their best guess is she has recurrent flank alepicia (sp?).

He already knows the commands for sit and stay but I can't seem to get him to learn to lay. I've tried holding a treat on the floor and pushing him down gentyly until he lays before giving it to him but he doesn't catch on...any advice?

Can people who use them give me their opinion. Do the shock collars work well as a deterent for dogs who dig out from under their fences? Or is there a better system of keeping them in the yard?

I live in a very, very small place. It's just not responsible to have a dog here. I was thinking of volunteering or something and the SunnySide Dog Kennels in Wolverhampton. Anyone know anything about it? Or volunteer in kennels? Whats it like? Do think there are any other options besides keeping one here? I've always had dogs but now living here it depresses me that I can't have one.

She is very freindly and gets very excited when visitors come to the house. She is getting big and strong and jumps up very excitedly like a jack in a box.

I'm the proud owner of two male pitt bulls, their names are Capone and Junior. Why are they often confused as mean fighting dogs when they are actually gentle and great around adults as well as childern?

I have a two yr old minidoxie and this a.m. when i was rewinding a video tape and the machine made a high pitched whining noise as it neared the beginning of the tape my sleeping doxie jumped off the couch and went into a convulsion, vomiting and loose bowels.........she seems fine now, but it scared both her and me a lot!!!! I know that dogs have a higher sense of sound and i'm thinking that this is what might have happened.......anyone else have a similar experience or reaction with their dogs? Thanks.........S.T. Ohio

It's hardly the most rural of environments and allowing it to crap in the local park once a day, doesn't really cut it.

What say you the 'Dog Lovers'?
