I have cut the hair around it to keep it from matting and so I can see what I am doing. I have cleansed it with a water/hydrogen peroxide solution and also tried straight hydrogen peroxide. He is good about letting me clean it, so it doesn't seem to hurt him. I have the flu and will take his to the vet when I get better, but is the cleaning with hydrogen peroxide ok?

As the first day of Crufts comes to a close.... it would be great to find out which breeds of dog people have enjoyed seeing (or would like to see) the most?

I'm learning to groom my dog myself. I've been doing fairly well with the Andis clipper I use on my husband. My question is what is the difference between clippers for humans and clippers for animals? They seem to cost twice as much or more. Is it quieter? vibrates less? what?

Also, can you recommend a good grooming book or DVD? I have a terrier mix. I have a hard time getting the shape of her head. She looks like a Glen of Imaal Terrier.

Ok. My dog listens to me, he lets me pick him up, play with his ears, give him little kisses, and he follows me around. I am with him almost all the time. My husband on the other hand works. He tries to feed the dog when he can and he adores him. The dog though will growl at him when he sits down (I haven't figured out if it is too close to me or too close to him). If my husband goes to give him a kiss, the dog with show his teet and growl. I try to tell the dog no sternly when he does this, but my husband says that it is ok.I tried to get my husband to make more of a stand when it comes to the dog, by telling him no and standing up straight and looking down on him when he does it. I figure that if that is what I am doing and he knows I am the boss, then it might help my husband.
I was wondering though, is there any ways (No hurting the dog of course) that would help my husband establish some dominance over him because I fear that he will get worse and might bite him hard next time.

We have a 13 week old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. He is the love of our lives! We can't be happier with the breed that we chose. Briar is 6.5 pounds right now. I just wondered if any others have experience with this breed and how big theirs were at about this age. He has a small body, and is a little leggy. I am just curious. I have done a search on the internet, but I haven't found a site that suggests what weights should be at various ages. I know this seems to be a silly question, but I just wondered what to expect with our new baby:)

I have questions about their eyes - sometimes his are a little "bloodshot" at night - but clear in the morning. What causes that? He is 4 years old.

I don't know if you're familiar with Wild Dogs, but they are those dogs that hang around hyena's a lot if you ever watch National Geographic. They have kind of a dark black and brown coat. Anyway, how come we didn't domesticate those dogs if we were able to domesticate other dogs. They don't look like the biggest dog. It looks like those dogs police own and other dogs are a lot bigger than them. Wild dogs, in the wild, are usually running away from lions, hyenas, and EVEN the weakest big cat, the cheetah. They have to work in packs in order to kill their prey and they usually can only kill baby animals. So it doesn't seem like Wild Dogs are that dangerous. Does anyone know if they have ever been attempted be domesticated or not? How would a Wild Dog fair with police man helping them protect the world against Criminals. If you're still unaware of what I'm talking about, here's a pic of the African Wild Dog, http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.african-safari-pictures.com/im

I just recently asked this question ( http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070308070919AAKX9oD&r=wand got several well-informed answer ) and got several well-informed answers from people and I was wondering if this had any connection to it. Whenever I go to get a toy that my dog isn't playing with, it will race over and try to get it first. I mean, Girlfriend (our dog's name), wasn't even thinking about the little toy until I went to go grab it. (Grrrr! I here her continuously clawing at her cage because she wants to get out) if you read about my last question, you know why. Anyway, why does she do this? I grab a towel she has no interest in and isn't playing with, she will try to grab it from me. If I try to play and take ball from her, she will run away with it and try to defend it away from me. She's actually a very timid dog, but not when it comes to taking control of things. We have had her since birth, in 1997. She is a miniature snouzer and she actually knows a lot

My cousin just found two puppies on the side of the road. They were starving so he decided to pick them up and take them home. Im helping him take care of the puppies but one of them has diarrhea. The other seems to be doing just fine. Im just worried about the one with diarrhea. His eyes, ears, nose, and mouth have no discharge coming out. Is it his food? Should I feed him some puppy formula mixed with puppy food? Is he sick? Please no critism, I am for sure that their owners abandoned them. Any advice will help.

There has been a story on the news for a couple of weeks that a dog rescue group,Safe Harbor Doberman & Min. Pin. Rescue, was victimized and a few of the dogs were killed. Now the news has changed and the story now is the woman that was running this rescue starved the dogs and they were killing each other for food!!!! How sick!!! The dogs were taken from her and no doubt she will be charged in the courts. There is over 65 dogs and there are all kinds, not just Dobermans and Min. Pins. These dogs are being put up for adoption this Saturday, March 10 and will be at the Dover, Ohio Fairgrounds. The hours are going to be noon to three o'clock. My question is if your live near here will you PLEASE adopt one of these poor dogs? If there is a rescue group reading this could you please help these dogs? I thank everyone who took the time to read this and may God bless you if you decide to make the trip and adopt one of these precious lives.
