Its there way off playing games! Its nice they get on so well! And that the 4 year old is puppy playing! Dont worry i have the same problem when i go to my aunties shes got a dog the same age as mine (9 months). And all they do is constantly play i mean for 3 hours straight and there so tired but as soon as one moves the other moves and they never get a rest! They do this pla fighting to prepare to fight properly as adults as in the wild they would have to fight to maintain there terrority! Its also great exercise and solicization! They should settle down soon enough.

This is perfectly normal. this is the way dogs interact with each other, it's just part of being in the pack in the same way you would play with your dogs. I have a 7 year old and 6 year old lab and they still do it!!! i have found however that more exercise and off the lead exercise in particular cuts down on this playing in the house as the wear themselves out.

all dogs will play fight for hours on hours its just that htey havent been around other dogs and couldnt play like they want to. my two small dogs play fight all the time and its good excercise for them so is just throwin a toy or ball outside so they can run after it. give them some time to cool off toward each other after that they should settle down and only play with each other for a few minuetes to an hour. let them get used to each other and see what they do it could because its just how they are

They're just being dogs. It's how they interact and learn about each other. Unless they start to really hurt each other, I wouldn't worry.
Watch a couple of kittens play! THAT can get rough. We had a male that would get, quite literally, body slammed by the female. She'd flip him over her head then run and hide while he lay on the floor, stunned, then they'd do it again. They never hurt each other, but I gotta say, it was weird hearing thuds upstairs from them.

We are looking after two Golden Retrievers at the moment and they do exactly the same with no ill effects. The reason they do this is not for dominance in the home but a throwback to their ancestry when they 'sparred' to hone their fighting skills. Yes even a breed as placid as Labs & Retreivs

My two dogs do the same. But when one goes off the other is looking for it. They just like to play that's all. Nice to see them play together really. Mine are 5 months old and nine years. The old one sometimes just looks at the puppy as if she's mad. But never hurts her.

Because this is a normal way for 2 dogs who like each other to spend their time together. Sounds like an ideal situation for everyone involved! Have fun with your dogs.

That is how litter mates play. Your dogs are probably bored and this is how they entertain each other. They are not hurting each other and play is good for their development and socialization. When my dogs and cat play I like to jump in and play with them. It is loads of fun. Just enjoy it and laugh at it.

Because that's what dogs do when they love each other, they play like puppies!
I have a tiny shih tzu and a huge boxer and they do this when I come home from work--they're quiet and sleep all day but when they see me, they put on a show!
