Pound for pound a BT can out pull a draft horse. They have a huge amount of strength for a relatively small dog. And, as anyone who has attended weight pull competitions can tell you, the bull and terrier(pit bulls, Am Staffs, staffys and BT) breeds out pull mastiff(bull mastiffs and English) and Nordic(Malamutes, Chinooks)breeds regularly. I've seen a 60# Am Pitt out pull a #110 Malamute. I don't see many Bull Terriers at weight pulls, but when they are there they perform as well as the other pit breeds. So, they are probably one of the strongest breeds.

The Strongest Dogs

The Nanny Dog as they are known today are the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. They were used for bull baiting and ratting. Pit fighting is part of their history also. I have two Staffys. One you see to the left. I am always happy to share info about the breed. While the popularity for them sores in foriegn countries, america is more of a pit bull fanicier, the bigger the better. Staffy are really small when you see them in real life. On the AKC list of breed popularity the rank like 95 out of 150 breeds. Not so good, however in England where they originate from they rank about 6! They are great with kids, and make an all-purpose dog. It is sad to know these little love bugs were once used as a finghting breed. They are very strong!

That's a good question. I think a bigger dog would be the strongest. Maybe the Irish Wolfhound or Mastiff. I would rather take on a small pit bull than a giant Mastiff. Yikes!

I have 2 125Lbs Rotties

and it really depends on how you define 'strongest'.

If you mean pulling, the husky. They are the breed that pull dog sleds.

If you mean the strongest bite, a test was done on this. Rottie had the strongest bite, followed by the German Shepherd Dog, and then the Pit bull. These were the only three dogs tested though.

If you mean what dog would win a fight...probably a Pit Bull.
American Pit Bull Terrier is, pound for pound, the strongest breed of dog.

Strongest of pure mass, I'd go with English Mastiff

Yes. I have an American Pit Bull Terrier and it's unreal how much strength and endurance these dogs possess. When I take him out potty, in the winter, I have to wear spiked shoes ... it's that or I go skiing. For their size, Pit Bull Terriers are the strongest dogs in the world.

I watched a pup bite through the side of a metal dustbin to get at some discarded sausages.
Perhaps not the strongest domestic dog in the UK. But I wouldn't like to meet up with one in a brightly lit alley in broad daylight, let alone one at night.
Can make nice pets - but need helluva lot of training and discipline.
Tell your mate. Sell the shop - keep the pup!

They are one of the strongest dogs. Like most "pit" breeds are very strong. They were bred years ago to either fight each other, or other creatures, wether being bull, lion, bear, or human. You should check to see if there are any local pull tournaments around. We have them here in my area of kentucky. Its very xciting and its good exercise for the dogs. They are hooked up to a harness and then depending on the dog and how much training they hav had, depends on how much weight they can pull. I dont kno all the official names or how you would look it up on the internet. But you never know, your little bull terrier could bcome one of the strongest dogs around your area.

You sound like a sad chav.

Only a chav would care what dog was the strongest and would like videos of dogs fighting bulls and other dogs.
