Oh Boxers, any kind of bulldog, Cane Corsos, Mastiffs, Some Labs, Ridge backs,Jack Russell Terriers,Staffordshires, any dog with a boxy face and short hair, any dog that bites or is aggressive, just about. That's what annoys me. Why can't the people who want to ban the dogs and use the "you always here about pit bites and attacks" excuse see that it's easy to get a lot of them confused. The American Staffordshire resembles pit-bulls: some people think they're the same thing. There is also the American Bulldog which some might confuse with an enormous pit bull. If you're looking to add one of these dogs to your household, please RESEARCH the breeds extensively and get a puppy from a reputable source, such as a PROFESSIONAL breeder (who shows or works the dogs in competition) or a reputable rescue organization. These breeds are wonderful dogs for the RIGHT owner with the RIGHT experience and the proper care and training. They can be dangerous IN THE WRONG HANDS and without proper training.

We do that to an extent. If it is full blood then we say APBT. If its a mix we use what it is mixed with in the description. I love PBs. I own 2 bully breeds. And all the people that work with me feel the same. The problem lies with the public. If we have a lab mix, or a pointer mix, They will be adopted faster then a PB mix. And we have a limit as to how many PBs we can have. If we called every PB mix a PB then we couldn't take in as many as we do. That is the main reason. Also, if we took in all PBs that are at the animal control center (the kill shelter), that's all we would have. ADD- Some shelters may not be able to have PBs or they may have a limit. So, they have to give them a different lable to have them in their rescue. We are allowed to have 4 1/2% PBs and mixes of. We find a way to bend the rules a little so we can bring more of them from the kill shelter. I know it's a little deceptive, but thats what we have to do. We screen every potential adopter very carefully. If they don't fit the requierments for the dog they wanted to adopt, they don't get it. We have a mess of puppies that could be lab mixes, could be boxer mixes, could be alot of mixes. Honestly, you wouldn't know until they are older. And even then, some are so mixed up there would never be any way to telll, not matter what age the dog is. ADD- Rogue, i got that on the first try. Almost all of them could be mistaken as an APBT.

I have a AKC papered Yellow Lab from a reputable breeder who has the large boxy head that resembles a pit bull. They say that he resembles the English version of labs. My husband read that way way way back when they were breeding different types of dogs and then breeding out certain characteristics to get to what is now known as the lab, they used pit bulls at some point.
