I am seriously thinking about doing the course myself, but cant decide what is the best way to do it, as i want to do it as a full time career. Has anybody else been succesful in achieving this or should i not bother? If you have been succesful, how did you get started?

Thanks!

I have just about finished my degree in animal behavioural science at the university of lincoln (uk).

this course covers all of the science and natural behaviours behind the behaviour of companion animals. which is a great basis for becoming an animal behaviourist.

practical experience is very important and is one thing my university doesn't offer too much of, so shelters and dog clubs are great places to start.

good luck, and have fun

I have done some courses through COAPE. They're a great organisation and the more advanced courses are geared up to becoming a behaviourist.

Look at their website: www.coape.co.uk

Southhampton Uni also do good animal psychology/behaviour courses.

You will also need to get lots of practical experience so try volunteering at a local dog club and dog shelter as much as you can.

dogs psychology looks extremely elementary for a route. they have a %. mentality and persist with the chief. in case you lead poorly they are going to persist with with undesirable followthrough. it truly is quite usually a mirrored image of the owner, no longer the dogs's organic mind-set that kinds it truly is behaviour kinds. That stated, i could advise searching right into a route to coach police dogs. the position you ordinary strategies to coach them. this can provide an intensive and insightful view right into a dogs psyche because they mould it the most.
