No one knows, because when you start counting they won't stand still, and you lose count. They don't mean to be unhelpful, it just turns out that way.

Also there was this one guy who tried to count the spots on his dalmation puppies, and he saw spots the rest of his life. It drove him crazy, he was always washing his glasses, and complaining about dishes in restaurants, and he was a doctor so he was always telling people they had the measles.

a well bred pedigree dalmation with good breeding have very few spots on them, in fact the better bred they are they will only have about half a dozen spots on their whole body. otherwise its a bit like asking how long is a piece of string!

Depends on the size of the dalmatian. Small dog = small surface = few spots. Big dog = large surface = many spots

Depends on the individual dog!
It's not the number of spots which is important, but their size & distribution:
The KC standard states:
Ground colour pure white. Black spotted, dense black spots, and liver spotted, liver brown spots; not running together but round and well defined. In size one-penny to fifty-pence piece. Spots as well distributed as possible. Spots on extremities smaller than those on body. Patches, tricolours and spotting colour other than black or liver unacceptable. Bronzing on spots undesirable in adults
