You need to go back to the basics and treat her as if you have a puppy that is not yet house trained - which is basically what you have, except she's three years, not three months.

Purchase a crate. Crates are essential to good potty training because dogs won't soil in their own den. Make her sleep in the crate and walk her first thing in the morning so she can relieve herself. She should learn that the crate is where she's supposed to lay down and sleep - and should be crated whenever you're not home or not able to supervise her.

Then also set a schedule. Dogs need a strong routine, especially during potty training. Always walk her at the same time (first thing in the morning, last thing before going to bed, and within an hour of each feeding), feed her at the same time, etc.

Always take her to the same spot(s) to go potty and praise her like crazy when she goes there. Dogs start associating the smell with the place to go, and your happy reaction with going - she'll be more likely to go that way. Some dogs need to have a brisk walk before they're able to go in the morning - it helps "loosen things up". You should make time for a 20 minute walk in the morning if going poo is an issue at that point.

Also, don't feed or water right before putting her into her crate. You should take away the food and water about an hour before your last walk of the night. That way she will empty her bladder before going into the crate to sleep and won't have accidents over night.

She sounds like she is a little spoiled and wants to be with someone all the time. Only kidding I would trade in my husband.LoL!! Try crate training until she learns to hold it at night as she likes being with someone at night. My dogs are in my room all night and dont go until morning. But everyone is different. I crate trained all three of mine and they do well now .It takes time and it will work.

I'd start her house training schedule again from scratch - follow these methods http://www.squidoo.com/puppy-housetraining/

Also I think you'll find that she doesn't know she has done wrong she is actually reacting to you coming into the room - she knows that when you come in there will be trouble (or has been in the past).

You may want to keep her in a crate overnight.

Good luck with her.

my border collie did exactly the same and yes your right they do stop when they sleep with you because it is a jelousy thing, if you leave them down stairs they say " why does she get togo there and im left down here, i no what ill do, ill leave a nasty surprise for her, ha ha ha ha"
like you the only way i got mine to stop was to keep him in my room for 2 months then once he knew where he slept he got bored and wanted his own space again so he slept down in the kitchen with out any mess, tell your bf its the only way he/she is going to learn, they are a very intelligent breed and need to realize for themselves, what ever you do dont smack him if he does it because he wont accosiate the smack with the poo and wee.
thanx
