I have a French Bulldog mix. He has bad behaviors that I want to fix fast. We have had him for a year we got him from the SPCA. We have fixed a few problems but there are some that we can't seem to fix. When we talk him for a walk its the most embarising thing. He freaks out when he sees other dog makes this loud whin and won't listen to me pulls on his leash so hard he start to choke. He even does it when people walk by with a dog by our house and when there is an animal on t.v then when that happens he jumps at the t.v almost knocking it over! When we tell him to be quiet, he doesn't. He loves to chew so we can't leave him unattended for long or everything would be destroyed. He always jumps up on people or runs at people. He wouldn't hurt a fly hes very friendly but it scares people. I am really starting to get annoyed of his behaviors. We've tried spraying him with a water bottle, putting him into his kennel, tap him on his butt and snout nothing seems to work. Please help.

I have two Chihuahuas and one of them is bigger in size than the other. The bigger one is always bullying the smaller one and always fighting her. Michi (the bigger one) is out of control. I have to separate them from fights everyday and I've been bitten twice this week. They are both like 3 or 4 years old in human years, females, and sisters. How can I control this dog?

How can you tell if your dog has an ulcer?

My 15 month old chihuahua has had an on again/off again problem with the skin getting very dry on his ears. He will be fine for a month and then suddenly one day his ears with be dry and red from his scratching. I had him checked for ear mites, which I thought was the problem at first...no mites. The problem will come on for 2 or 3 days and then seem to suddenly be fine...Could it be the air in the home? Is there something I can put on his ears when they are dry that will help ease any burning? The vet we saw suggested putting a little baby oil on the ears but this seemed to irritate him even more. Any suggestions, please?

My dog is a five year old golden retriever and she constantly throws up. She will throw up if she drinks too much, runs after she eats, gets nervous, is scared or if her food is changed. Any ideas on why she does this?

She has surgery 9 months ago for an emergency hysterectomy and they removed a kidney stone the size of a golf ball - she's clean - no doubt about that. But shes acting like it's hard for her to walk. She will go downstairs, but not back up them. Her tail is tucked hard between her legs. She just lays around all day. She will eat and drink though. I have been giving her antibiotics (left over from her surgery) for 4 days now with no improvement. I can't afford another $1000 surgery. Any suggestions?

I will be getting her right at 8 weeks and intend on starting right away. She is a Brittany Spaniel. Also, if you have any other advice on raising a Brittany as a upland bird dog, it is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I would show a Border collie if I ever entered a dog show but I do prefer Border collies that work like herding sheep or doing agility which my Border collie is very good at.

One of them is turning aggressive towards my other dog. They're both 6.5 months old though, and the aggressive one will be neutered this comming wednesday. I won't be able to neuter the other dog until a month from now because he just had eye surgery about 3 days ago, due to a dog fight between him and his brother (the dog), and there's was blood comming from their mouth, etc. Sinse I won't be able to have them together nomore, I just decided to leave one of them in my front yard (gate is about 3 ft. tall), and the other dog will stay in my back yard. That's the only solution I can think of for now, but I don't know if it's the best idea...?....I don't want to get rid of any of them, because I know its not fair sinse I'm the one to blame for making such a stupid decision of raising 2 of those dogs together..

I have a dog who is just a little over a year old. She recently has gone into heat for the second time! I have decided I am going to get her fixed because it benefits both her and me. I was just wondering whether or not this will help calm her down a bit, so she will not be so jumpy/hyper all the time. She is a miniature schnaunzer. Thanks a head of time!!

I have asked this question many times but never recieved an answer from a a vet.
My dachshund is 9 months old. I am going to get her spayed next week. My vet is well known and has a good reputation.
However, he has a policy that pets stay two nights. The first night so that the animal has time to adjust to the new environment. The second after the surgery. I would like her to come home after the surgery. I of course would leave her there for the whole day, up until the time they close. I could bring her back the next day. My vet is not staffed 24hrs so she would be alone during the night and I am so afraid something would happen. She is my best friend and I want to do whats best for her. She doesn't like the cold and I am worried she would freeze. The secretary told me they are in cages with blankets, etc. She told me that I can't bring her home that night. How can I convince the vet to let her come home with me. Is this a bad idea? I would not let her move and keep her warm...

If you want someone who will do anything to please you, get a dog.

If you want someone who will bring you the newspaper without tearing through it first for the sports page, get a dog.

If you want someone who'll make a total fool of himself because he's so glad to see you, get a dog.

If you want someone who eats whatever you put in front of him and never say his mother made it better, get a dog.

If you want someone who's always eager to go out any time you ask and anywhere you want to go, get a dog.

If you want someone who can scare away burglars without waving a lethal weapon around, endangering you and all the neighbors, get a dog.

If you want someone who never touches the remote, couldn't care less about Monday Night Football, and watches dramatic movies with you as long as you want, get a dog.

If you want someone who'll be content just to snuggle up and keep you warm in bed, and whom you can kick out of bed if he slobbers and snores, get a dog.

If you want someone who never criticizes anything you do, doesn't care how good or bad you look, acts as though every word you say is worth hearing, never complains, and loves you unconditionally all the time, get a DOG!

On the other hand...

If you want someone who never comes when you call him, totally ignores you when you walk in the room, leaves hair all over the place, walks allover you, prowls around all night and comes home only to eat and sleep all day, and acts as though you are there only to see that HE’s happy...

I'd like to attend a dog show, but unfortunately I'm unable to attend Crufts due to family commitments.

Is Crufts held on the same weekend each year?

Are there any other shows that are available for spectators? I realise they won't be as big as Crufts, but I still think I'd find it interesting.
