How can you tell if a Pekingnese is purebred, other than registration papers?

If you seen both parents and their AKC papers.. Then more likely the puppy is purebred. And they also have the litter registration.

There would be no way to ensure the dog is pure bred without registration unless you can verify that both the dog's parents have paperwork. Just because a dog looks like a pure bred dog does not mean that it is.

Registration papers, AKC certificate, is all that is needed. If you want to see if your Pekinese actually lives up to his line then check out the AKC club for your breed, refine search to the breed standard and see for yourself. You will need to check height, weight, coloring, stance, skeleton, teeth, eyes, and more.

There is no 100% way to tell. There are NO DNA tests that can tell if a dog is purebred or not.

Genetic Testing will NOT reveal if a dog is pure bred or not. It only reveals parentage and the parents have to be tested also to get a match up.

Papers do not = pure bred either. They can easily be forged.

genetic testing is the ONLY way to prove if a dog is pure of breed. AKC papers are not a guarantee.Unfortunately,there are some unscrupulous breeders out there.

If it is an AKC registration then your probably OK. If not then I'd start with your vet.
