Ok, so this is quite a dilema. He is 8, wolf & malamute mix, has a knot about 1/2 the size of a golf ball, bloody mucus was stopping up his nose, still having trouble breathing, won't drink, or eat, mucus in his eyes, and about 20 mins ago started bleeding from his nose. I finally got it stopped, but he is very sick. The problem with taking to a vet, is he is usually very aggresive towards vets especially. To vaccinate him I have to give the shots to him because no one wants to get that close to him? Is there something that I can do?

He eats like a champion - so thats not the problem. He does run the yard line all day, everyday - an extremely active dog. Why wont he put on any weight

I live where there are lots of dogs (Managua, Nicaragua), and the people in this community seem to feed these animals crack for breakfast; they're amazingly ill-tempered. Whenever I walk my pup, it's canine mayhem. In the last two days my pup has been attacked twice. I'm concerned that next time it could be both of us, or we might encounter a pack of dogs.

If another attack happens what can I do? Avoiding eye contact alone sounds too "iffy". Would carrying pepper spray help or is that more dangerous?

I know someone might say I shouldn't be walking me dog here, but this animal needs exercise. He's already grown out of his collar, and is tearing the house apart with all his excess energy.

My dog accidently swallowed a WHOLE candle wax thing since it was his bday today and i gave him an edible dog cake. But the thing is, i forgot to take off the candle before giving him it, and he chewed and swallowed it up!! I was wondering if this is bad for him or not! Will this affect him at all?

He is violently ill, I hope sulfur ingestion is not deadly.

If that little bugger dies, I don't know how I will recover from it.

I have a 10 year old german shepard doberman mix who has been acting very strange lately. He tends to have vomiting fits at least once a week, recently I have found to lumps on the back of his neck. And the strangest is every so often he randomly tries to get up on the furniture either my bed or the couch which he has never been allowed to do...it is almost as if he is trying to comfort himself because wheter i let him on the furniture or not he begins to shake uncontrollably, however its not the same as a seizure he can still walk and is aware of what is going on... its as is he is horrified and i don't know why because he did not get yelled at or punished. This normally tends to occur at night and at first i was thinking that he was having a bad dream and was genuinly scared but it has now happened without him sleeping. Any thoughts? Also the vet looked at the lumps on his back and stated they were just fatty cysts.

A lot of people think you should not give chicken bones to dogs. What exactly do you think dogs ate in the wild ? They are designed to eat whatever they can catch, including chickens. Dogs are just domesticated wolves; are you people seriously telling me wolves can't eat a raw chicken ? Splintering of bones is not a problem for raw chicken. The problem is COOKED chicken, and cooked chop bones etc anything cooked. (Fried onion is especially bad, so be careful when you barbecue)The heat involved changes the chemical composition of the bones and makes it much harder for the dogs stomach acids to digest. Mostly you still don't have a problem because the acid is so strong, but you'll never have a problem with raw bones. Chicken wings are great for puppies, helps clean their teeth.
