How often should I bathe my dog?

The simplest answer to this question is, whenever he needs it. Dogs who spend the most of their time indoors will not need much bathing, while dogs who are outside a lot, romping in the mud and trees (and possibly other smelly things) will need to be bathed more often. Also, some dogs' coats will accumulate grease and oil more quickly than others. Breeds prone to oily skin and other skin conditions, such as Cocker Spaniels, benefit from regular bathing about every four weeks. Breeds with a thick, double coat, like huskies and chows, only need bathing about 3 or 4 times a year. Washing a dog with an undercoat more often than this can make the coat softer and less waterproof and insulating.

In general, you can use your common sense to judge when your dog needs bathing. If you're concerned about causing dry skin, there are moisturizing treatments available at most pet stores, which you rub into your dog's skin after you shampoo him. If your dog seems uncomfortable or shows signs of skin problems, consult your veterinarian.

Absolutly!

Just make sure you don't bathe your dog 2 days before or after applying a topical flea control

Also use a high quality dog shampoo. Something from a veterinary office. Never use a human shampoo..don't bother with flea shampoos either. They can be drying to the skin, making flea controls like frontline less effective. ( if you leave any shampoo on a dog for 10 minutes it will kill the fleas anyway...save your money)

The thing about dog shampoos...when they are HIGHLY scented and you get a lot of lather from them, the shampoos are actually less effetive.

I would reccomend DVMTearless..
It gets them clean, smells like baby shampoo..don't have to worry about it getting int heir eyes and it keeps them fresh for a long while.

I tend to bathe my dog every 2 weeks, and of course she has a beautiful coat

you're giving him lot of exercising and interest, which he's probable loving! you besides could discover time for training, that's super. Very healthful for him the two mentally and bodily. i could certainly replace his meals and bathe him much less, nevertheless. Neither technological awareness meals regimen or optimal are stable ingredients in any respect. technological awareness meals regimen is particular is extremely, very low-high quality. i does no longer feed the two of them to my canines whether given a loose lifetime grant. you do no longer say what type of canines you have, yet a quick haired breed would not could be bathed frequently in any respect (each few months on the main), and long haired breeds can actually pass a month or extra between baths. Bathing too frequently can dry the exterior and take the organic oils out of the coat. additionally, i individually experience there's no longer something incorrect with some table scraps right here and there, as long as they are not full of sugars, salt or different undesirable issues (and as long as he would not initiate begging!), yet you do no longer pick to be giving him too plenty!

Dogs only need to be bathed when they are dirty. However you can bathe them once a month if you want, but only use
Dog Shampoos and conditioners, Never use Human shampoos on pets, they are not good for their skin or coat and can take all the essential oils out of their skin and cause
dry skin and itching.

I spoke with my vet about this. My dog does have sensitive skin. I just use a sensitive sink shampoo. But I the only time that I give him a bath more than once a month is in the summer when it is hot out.

Yes for your dog probably very 1-2 weeks is fine. Use a special dog shampoo for your hair type of dog, but baby shampoo works well too. We had a short haired dashie and we could only bath him once a month because otherwise he would get dandruff.

it depends on what type of dog you have and how needy their fur is. if your dog has thick messy fur then they need to be bathed once a week, in your case once a month is fine but if she is an inside dog once every 2 months, and if she is an outside dog once or twice a month should be fine. personally i never wash my dogs, they don't need it. if your dog doesn't have a grooming problem then you wont need to bathe her unless necessary. just make sure you use conditioner and wash all the shampoo out so its not an irritation.

O it's fine if you give it bath once a month. Even a week will be fine. It can help the fur be clean, prevent a lot shedding, and just make sure you use good shampoo for her. It's perfectly fine!
