i have an 8 month old chihuahua and her tummy is usually pink, and then today its all of a sudden gray, i gave her a shower hoping she just got dirty, and that wasnt it. is she sick??? whats wrong with her?? thanks in advance

If this color change occurred suddenly (as you described), it may be a sign of a serious medical condition (such as heart disease). Check other areas of her body that are normally pink (such as inside her ears, under her lips, her tongue, her gums) to see if they also are a grey or purple color. If they are or if she seems depressed or is having a difficult time breathing, she needs to be taken to your veterinarian immediately---- don't wait!
If the color change has occurred gradually or if she has or has had any skin problems, it may be hyperpigmentation. She should be taken to the veterinarian, but it is not an emergency.

Don't worry, I think its just that she is getting older, not a little puppy any more. If you're worried, take her to the vet to check.

Sounds like that is called hyper-pigmentation. I bet she licks at her stomach a lot?

Oh dont worry, my mom has chi's also . As they get older there skin gets darker. Just the way they, i guess, lo.
