That's normal. He is scared. Offer some low sodium chicken broth this evening. Don't keep food out 24-7. It'll be ok.

the breeder should have given you some of the food that he was eating. never change foods without mixing it with the food he was on. Never give boiled chicken. 1 dog dead and another dying from eating boiled chicken and rice. You may get some mothers milk substitute from the store. Make sure you smell if it is powder. I have had some spoil and it gives off a really bad smell. make sure it is fresh. I open it at the store now before I buy it. Do not mix wet food with dry food as when the dog swallows it the dry food expands and makes the dog throw up. A puppy will be a llittle nervous, but it should not keep it from eating. I would like to know more as I love animals and would hate to see anthing happen to the pup. If the pup is under 8 weeks. make sure you are feeding a milk substitute, and turn the breeder in please. make sure you have a vet appt schedualed for the pups check up within a few weeks it will need a shot, and you will learn if anything is wrong. Please let us know.

Good for You and Congratulations! Remember that puppies are babies. The little guy (or girl) is probably going through a very traumatic experience being taken from their family to a new place with strangers. They may not really eat for a few days until they become adjusted to their new environment.

If he's drinking water, then don't be to concerned for the next few days. Have food available and soon he'll fall into a routine and consider you his new family.

Speaking of food...
You may also want to check with where you picked him up and continue to feed him the same brand of puppy food that he ate at his old home. You can also check if the puppy had any problems with eating. If not, see the above

Again Congraulations!

It depends on how old your puppy is and if it was still nursing. If so, you'll need to pick up some puppy milk replacement. I use to mix the milk replacement with puppy chow, warm it in the microwave until the chow got good and soggy, and the puppies loved it. Every day just cut down on the milk replacement until the puppy is just eating the puppy chow. If the puppy wasn't nursing and had no problem with dry food, then its most likely just scared. Hold and cuddle a lot, sit with it when you feed it, it might be afraid to go off on its own to eat. Congratulations!

I would definitly try and get him to eat something. Puppies...especially really small puppies can be very easily fall into having low blood sugar..

Maybe try some canned food...try and tempt him/ her.

Keep an eye on the gum color, if it looks a little pale, try and rub a small amount of karo syrup on the gums and get the baby to the vet.

Also...make sure the puppy has been check for things like parvo, intestinal parasites, etc

i does no longer be worried merely yet - some canines go by an adjustment era. i might want to positioned the nutrition out at meal situations (i does no longer go away it out 24/7 because you want to demonstrate screen nutrition intake and loose feeding may reason weight problems) and %. it up. do not fuss about it and promises it time. If the canines would not devour in some days, then it truly is time for a vet visit. might want to i ask what nutrition you're feeding? some kibbles are too enormous or difficult for doggies (or small canines.) The puppy might want to fairly be on a sturdy small breed puppy nutrition - no corn, by-products, fillers, dyes, and espresso grain. try moistening the nutrition with lukewarm water. do not upload something or the canines might want to study a thanks to ignore the kibble and merely devour the upload-ins.

Try holding and comforting like as though a baby and as soon as he starts relaxing in your arms while you are sitting near his dish and hand feed him a kibble at a time, once he has ate a few pieces and is acting like he wants more quietly and slowly put him down in front of his dish and stay where you are quietly talking to him, so he stays in a nice relaxed state

Make sure you are using the same food the previous owners or pet store used.

DO NOT feed him table scraps or he will refuse to eat his dog food forever. I speak from personal experience.

Boil several chicken livvers in quite a bit of water..Offer your puppy the broth, and then a small piece of liver, as an appetizer..If he refuses liver, he is indeed ill, and needs to see the vet. It may be as simple as having too many worms, or as serious as a deadly virus.
