i have experianced this myself with my beagle. he was always crieing and sad. but our best soloution was taking him for a walk, we let him off the leach and he runs around and socolises with the other dogs. now he is much better and always looks forward to his walks.

P.S make sure you always take him on the same rought as then he will get used to it. we take our enerjetic beagle for 45min or so on his walk, it may sound like a lot but it stops you from worring the whole day. also if posble buy him a harness as he might get very exited like mine and chock himself. if you could get him a friend from the shelter fantastic, there is nothing wrong with those dogs they have just been abondonded or mistreated

Sounds like he could use some permanent company. If your mom is not comfortable going to the shelter, find a rescue organization that will help her find a good dog. She can either find a specific breed or contact a mixed breed rescue group. The advantages with a good rescue group is that the dog will have been thoroughly checked out by a vet and been evaluated by a foster family for at least some period of time before being available for adoption. There aren't any guarantees but you do have a better chance of getting a dog that suits you and the dog you already have. Good luck!

I would suggest getting a rescue! :) There is some concern about whether there may be something wrong with the animal, but you really run that risk regardless of where you get it.

I imagine it must be hard to have your dogs there to play with and then have them leave. Poor little guy.

I volunteer at an animal shelter and there are soooo many wonderful pits (if that's what you're thinking of getting; I assumed that since you have Staffies and hers is part Pit) that need good loving homes. One word of caution: make sure you bring your mom's dog and your dog to meet any potential adoptees. Last thing you want it to bring a new dog in and find out they don't get along (especially considering a pitbull's potential for dog-on-dog agression).

Good luck, I hope you can convince your mom to get him a friend. :) If not I would suggest she spend as much time with him as possible right after you leave so that he can forget his troubles and be happy again!

A popular thing in todays busy world for dogs is a day play school. Check in your area. In my area your Mom could take her dog one day a week to play with the other dogs. Actually play dates are also popular now. If she walks her dog maybe others she meets might like to set up a play date. Also check in your area to see if you have any dog parks. Most dogs love them. I hope this helps.

I live in Indiana and I have a boy and a gurl dog. Trouble&Zina!!!! Try bringing over both dogs and let them play all together.

get her another dog. shelter dogs don't necessarily have 'something wrong with them'; dogs are pack animals and need to be with other dogs.
