I've have these two dogs for a long time. The male, Charlie since he was a pup and is now ten, and the female Mandy since she was 2-3 years old. Every time my uncle comes into my room, or Mandy hears a loud noise, me coming home, or even sometimes me just getting out of my chair, or sometimes even for no apparent reason at all she attacks Charlie. She doesn't cause any serious injuries to him, but she definitely goes after him. He doesn't seem to defend himself that much against her, but once in a while he will. I just don't understand why she does this. Of course we try to correct her, but it just doesn't seem to work. And it's not like we give him more attention or anything we treat them both exactly the same. I just don't understand why. Any insight to this anyone?

I have a 3 year old, neutered Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. We got him from the animal shelter, so he could be a mix, but he's pretty close. Anyway, we got him at the end of last summer (about 7 months ago) and we've recently started taking him to the dog park. When we are there, he growls at the other dogs and sometimes at people. He has never gotten into any kind of fight and never bitten anyone. He's only ever snapped at someone once and it was just my husband. We think he may have some alpha-dog tendancies and he has responded well to training in our home. However, when we go out in public he continues to growl at the dogs who approach him. It seems like it may be some kind of play for him because if a dog turns and runs away, he happily gives chase. Ususally what happens, though, is the other dogs just don't play with him and some of the parents get nervous. Is this behavior normal? If not, what shoudl I do about it?

My puppy is really picky. She'll eat the same food for a month or so and then she wont touch it. Is it ok that we change brands often? Is it ok to feed her puppy jelly meat, rice and puppy biscuits?

Also today she hasn't touched her food. She's been acting normally otherwise. Is this ok?

I took him to the vet and he said that my dog has no "ball" left in his hip socket and that he's not a candidate for hip replacement surgery because he is bo-legged. Glucosamine has been proven to be uneffective as an aid. I need a remedy. He doesn't act like he's hurting other than the fact he's limping. He's 8 years old and has several good years left.

She'll chase it, pick it up, and then run circles around me. As funny and cute as it is, I'd like to throw the ball *an impossibly large tennis ball Dad came home with that she somehow picks up* and have her bring it back. Would throwing it and tempting her with a 'treat" *kibble, to tel the truth, but she don't know* be enough to help her "get" it? Is there something else?

Fetch is possible for dogs not in the retreiver *not sure if that is the right term, but like labs and goldens and such* group, right?

She's fixing to start obedience classes, and i'm pretty sure that'll help, but is there anything I can do sooner?

How old do they need to be before you start taking them out to do their business? Do they have to have completed all their shots or does that matter? I live in an apartment complex so there are alot of dogs around and I wasn't sure if he could get something since he hasn't had all of his boosters yet. Any advice would be appreciated.

She is about 4-5 years old and is for the most part house trained. I didn't have her as a puppy so.. I have to leave my door open because it becomes very cold if its closed. This is the second time this week and I am running out of clean blankets. I scold her and put her in a cage for the time being, I'm not sure if that works, but she just doesn't get the point! I know shes jsut an animal but she very smart. Someone is at my house for about 22-23 hours a day on the week days and on the weekends maybe 18-20 hours, sometimes 24. I was just gone for 2-2.5 hours and she peed on my bed. I'm going to like freak out if this happens again so please help me!

my 'rotty' was given to us by our neighbour. we have no idea if she's a pure breed or not, nor her age. she has the typical 2 dots on her forehead. she isn't plump, like most rotties are, but quite slender, with rather long legs.. our vet said she's 2-3 mths old based on her teeth, and that she's not pure breed. but a friend of mine said she's pure, and that perhaps 3 weeks old. is it possible for a 3 weeks old rotty to be so active like my pup? my friend said she's a different type of rotty, the one which is smaller in size with long legs.. is there such thing?
are there any hints to confirm my pup's breed n age?
