Most puppies do have somewhat of a round little belly, but if it really seems extremely bloated, and you have not already done wormings on schedule at the vet, take him or her in and have them wormed. Also talk to the vet about the food you are feeding and the amounts ... some dogs can't handle certain foods and it will cause bloating from severe stomach upset and or gas. Also make sure you are using a high quality PUPPY food as they won't get what they need with a cheap store bought dog food.

If none of those things are it, I would worry about the medical condition called Bloat where there is a twist in an intestine so nothing can pass...also if you puppy swallowed something too large etc., it can cause an intestinal blockage in which case the pooping will dwindle down to nothing. If you puppy stops going number two worry!

All puppies are born with worms in their stomach. These worms begin to grow when the puppy starts eating solid food. The reason your puppy's belly is so bloated is because you've gone a little too long without worming him or her. An over-the-counter wormer may still work at this time, but you may just want to consult a vet in case. Worming is something you always want to do when adopting a puppy.

Intestinal parasites, worms, or possible bloating from puppy milk or just a contented belly from a lot of food. Puppies do get a bit on the chubby side. They are so funny because their little bodies stay so skinny, but thier bellies are so round!

However, if it is a parasite or a worm, you must seek medical attention! Take a fecal (poop) sample in a ziplock bag, labeled with your name, your puppies name, phone number, and address to the vet to have tested for parasites and worms.

However, if all turns out well, and your puppy looks healthy and happy otherwise, then just chill. He's cute little roly-poly! Enjoy his/her fatness while it lasts.

Good luck. Seek medical advice, and let us know how things turn out!

Its stomach is bloated because it needs to get wormed by a vet (not the over the counter stuff) and it will probably need it a couple of times...most vets automatically worm when they do their puppy shots ....

I think your puppy has worms. Worms cause the belly to look very round and full even when they haven't eaten. You can buy puppy wormer from the pet store, or take it to the vet.

Over feeding it??
Feeding cheap food that is corn based, and drinking alot of water can make the food swell in their belly and make them bloat up like that.
Check for worms, a wormy puppy will have a bloated belly!

Have you had your puppy tested for worms? Puppies get them from things like eating their own feces. The next time she goes to the bathroom, gross as it may be, look to see if you see any larvae. Also, bring her to the vet for a thorough check.

If this is a new condition that is just developing, you need to get your pooch to the vet ASAP, even if it means going to an emergency vet. Several things could be going on, like a flipped stomach (which will kill your dog). How does the stool look? Firm? Runny? Runny could indicate an infection, such as worms (which will also bloat your dog's stomach).

I can't urge you enough to take your dog to the vet, NOW.
