First go to the store and get some pedialyte...it's in the aisle with the babyfood, lage qt sized container with clear fluid in it. {get unflavored} Then use a syringe or eyedropper or even a turkey baster if that's all you have and slowly give him some of the pedialyte instead of water.

If there is a feed store or vet clinic near you ask them for a tube of high calorie supplement in a tube...stress the tube.

Get some babyfood, beef, plain and add some of the pedialyte to it to thin it down & start feeding him a few dropperfuls every hour.

Take his temp and see if it is going down...any regular rectal therm will work, just put some vasoline of even baby oil on it before inserting it, you only need to insert it about 1/3 of the way into the anus.

You should also massage the dog, if it laying still then the blood is not pumping properly and a massage will help stimulate it's system. Laying down like that & not moving he can develop pneumonia.

Altho several other posts suggest parvo, it doesn't sound like it, the vet wouldn't let you walk out of the office and not tell you that your dog has parvo & is very contageous!! With parvo they usually have diarrhea for a few days before they just go downhill.

There are hundreds and hundreds of things that could be wrong with your puppy. The only way to know for sure is for a trained veterinarian to do tests - fecal tests, blood tests, etc. - to find out what it is and treat it properly.

If it's too expensive to have tests done and your dog treated by a vet, then you need to reevaluate priorities in your life. A dog is a living, breathing being and when you brought the puppy into your home you made a commitment to care for this dog during its lifetime - that includes proper medical care. You can either get a credit card to pay the vet bill or ask your vet whether you can work out a payment arrangement. If that's too much of a bother, please call a local rescue or the SPCA and surrender your dog to them so that it can receive proper medical care.

You should have asked more questions at the vet, not here. There is no way anyone here can diagnose your pup. And you did not say what meds they gave pup.

If the pup is getting worse then you need to call the vet. They should have a after hours emergency #. See if will take payments for the testing. Sounds pretty serious as far as what you describe. It could be so many causes. Try to get water into the pup even with a medecine dropper. Keep warm. Try calling the vet tonight.

Unfortunately, when a dog or cat stops eating, it is usually serious. I know about expense. However, the puppy is suffering. Do you want it to die an agonizing death? Would you want to die that way? Starving is painful. You need to make up your mind. Either have the tests run or put the puppy to sleep. He may have eaten poison...he may have a parvo virus...he may have kidney failure...there are a myriad of things which could be wrong. In any event, he's suffering and needs proper treatment....quickly.

The symptom's could be dang near anything... you don't mention if he will drink..... you don't mention if he is going potty... What were the pills??

I understand that cost can be prohibitive... but.. most vet's will work something out with you if you have a regular vet... if not.. you can always try the humane society.. or the local animal shelter.. some times they are able to do low cost care for low income folks with pet's....

Good luck...

Take your puppy to the vets - if not give him to someone who will, at least make sure you dog gets water
suffering is not a nice thing to do to an animal -prehaps the vet can work out a payment plan for you - or look for one who will. Alot of vets over charge if you call around ( do this QUICKLY) you may find a vet who can work with you finantially ...
If you can;t pay to look after the animal medically please don't keep the animal - give it to someone who can

Have you ever seen the trailer clinics? They are far less expensive, what is your general area? I can help you find one.

Other than that, your options are giving him to a shelter on the slight chance he will survive, getting a loan to help pay for it, or putting him down. Think of what is best for the puppy.

If you can not afford the dog you need to turn him over to a no kill rescue orginazation so that they can get proper vet care for the dog. When taking on an animal there are things that come up just like human children. You are responsible and if you don't do what is right it could become a legal issue because it is considered neglect. Please do what is right for this dog.

i know that it is a hard thing to do, but your puppy might have parvo or other numerous things that are very deadly and if you can't care for him because of the ungodly amount of the veterinary help you should call your local animal shelter and ask them for assistance, explain your situation and they will help you, ask them about the A.S.P.C.A. I am almost positive they will figure something out for you and your puppy. :) Good luck to the both of you!!

If you feel that the test are too expensive, then sign the pet over to the vets so they can help him/her, To say that my pet is very sick and yet do nothing is animal cruelty. Your pet may die through the night with your neglect.
