I was just wondering if any one could tell me when a long haired dachshund grows into their long hair? I have a 5 month old dapple lond haired dachshund, and his hair really isn't that long, so I'm just wondering when it will be long, like in the pictures you usually see of long haired dachshunds.

before i bought my dog i read about her temperament and what i thought she would be like. i do not think she has any of the negative characteristics i read about the breed. she truly is great. this makes me wonder, if most of what is written about breed temperaments is true. what do you think?

my friend has some property in Courtland, Al.(North Central). It is up for sale but due to the large number of dogs on the property(30-35), it is a turn off to people. He neds some one or some organization to come and emove the dogs before they are mistreated by someone.
please respond to me and I will give the info to him (he does not have a computer),
thanks, Pat V.

I had a dog which had the mange, now I am getting a new dog and was going to use the same dog house. Just wondering how I could clean the dog house to make sure the new dog doesn't get infected with the mange also.

We just brought home a puppy that was a part of a group of pups that were saved from a bad situation. She looks to be a German Shepard and Husky cross with VERY large feet. She only howls and doesn't bark at all. We have had puppys before and have never ran into this. Plus her canine teeth are not straight like the other dogs but have an inward curve to them (it is slight). I am wondering if she could have a little bit of Wolf in her blood line?

We just got a new puppy schnauzer 4 weeks ago, also have a 4 year old schnauzer. In the past 7 days the older schnauzer has gotten a stuffy nose and has had 3 episodes of breathing problems. Could this be kennel cough from the puppy although the puppy has no symtoms or could it be allergies or common cold?

My dog had a couple months last fall where she itched non stop and chewed on her fur-- I took her to the vet who gave her steroids and eventually she stopped, they said it might be fleas-- since that time we have completely rid the house of fleas, but now she has just started itching again-- Is she OCD? What could be the problem?

For my birthday i reallly want a little dog. like a lap dog. The only problem is i need to convince my dad to let me have one because he doesnt like dogs that bark alot... I already have one lab who loves everyone. (including my cats) So i need a small dog that doesnt bark alot, and gets along with other dogs, and likes to be cuddly! lol. I dont want a dog with ALOT of hair. or any kind of poodle. I thought alot about getting a Pekingese, and a pug. Do those dogs bark alot? any suggestions? please and thank you!

Ok..
So this afternoon my uncles two dogs, a rottweiler (sp?), and a bernice mountain dog were hit by a car. The Bernice Mt. Dog died on impact, and the other dog may not make it throught the night. It was broad daylight and each of these dogs weight well over 100 lbs. and are very visable. The woman was driving a suspended liscense, and her registration ran out about a month ago. She received two citations at the scene. My real question is.. is there any ground for my uncle to sue her due to the fact that she had no right to be on the road in the first place? She may also be getting a citation for reckless driving... any thoughts?

I have a boston terrier puppy that is 8 weeks old. I've only had him for about a week and today he was peeing a lot and by a lot I mean like 15 times in 30 minutes. Sometimes it's just a little other's it's normal and the pee is more like water; it's not really yellow. He's hasn't done this in the past week at all though. I did recently try to start potty training and have been more strict. Does anyone know what is wrong?

in early february, my aunts dog (a pomeranian mix) wallie and her other dog gizzie when out in the bush and just ran off after something, the next morning, only gizzie came back, she had porky pine quills all over her and she obviously very shooken up. she even had to get them removed with an anestic. my aunt and uncle went everywhere looking for him, but to no prevail. finally 6 days later he was found miles away in a barn, sleeping in a dog's bed. it was amazing he survived -20 to -30 temperatures. he had porcy pine quills in him too, one went right in his eye, and is now blind in that eye. he is back to his normal self, but i can't help but worrying, will he be ok? his eye it really crusy and looks dead looking, and sometimes green puss comes out. he was on antibiotics, but not any more. will be ok?

the other day she took off running outside, my husband just walked off, but she is just a puppy and still learning, she gets played with a lot, has lots of toys, gets lots of attention, and gets to go outside, she runs around in the house all the day long, when she ran off my husband was over her. I think she was just playing because our 10 year old chases her and races with her in the house, I think she thinks it is a game. How do I get her to not run off anymore? Also, she loves to lay on my bed, and on the couch, which is a no no because she's gonna be a big dog, any suggestions on that one too? And.... when you go to get her to put her up for when we go she thinks it is a game.. with her tail wagging and her jumping from furniture to furniture like a jack rabbit. She cracks me up, but it isn't so funny to my husband. She likes to bark at our child when they are playing, while nibbling on her. No we aren't getting rid of her. :o) She sits & lays on command if she's not playing.
