You cannot say that she is getting ready to die. She may be old but if she does not allow to touch her that may be happening because she has arthritis. She is afraid of the pain she might have when you touch her. That is the reason she is behaving like that. I had a dog too amd she was very loving but when she suffered arthiritis she started biting even me when I tried to touch her.
You just need a good vet to have her cured. She may not be cured completely but you can at least make her rest of the life less painful.

She probably has arthritis, so medication to alleviate the pain and swelling is necessary. There are many different signs that a dog is getting ready to die from many different reasons. The last dog of mine to die was a great dane whose heart finally gave out at the age of 12. Her chest was slightly enlarged, she had difficulty getting up when it wasnt a problem before, her breathing was laboured and she was extremely lethargic. We all knew what was happening even tho it came out of the blue so we all took the day off work and school, gave her a sedative to make it easier and just spent her last 3 hours with her. It was horrible, we all heard the 'pop' as her wonderful heart burst.
If your dog is dieing of a known cause then you will know as the time draws closer. If its for a reason out of the blue then you will recognise what is happening if you know your dog well enough as we did.
Honestly tho it just sounds like an elderly dog grumbling just like an old person, this hurts that hurts. take her to the vet, find out exactly why she is in pain, then make the rest of her life as easy as possible. I have known some pretty old dogs live for a long time after being medicated for whatever is ailing them. Painkillers and anti inflammitories can make life much easier and bearable for an old arthritic dog and add a year or 2 to their life span.

What age, what breed???? I don't know how many times I have hears people have called a 6 or 7 year old dog, old or up in years. For most dogs that is their prime years.
Lift up the lips of the dog and look at the molars......do they have brown hard stuff on them , is the gums bright red around the teeth ...... if so the dog has periodontal disease and needs the cleaned and maybe some teeth pulled like us dogs can get toothaches and absessed teeth that can be very painful. The infection from bad teeth can cause heart problems Take the dog to the vet and let the vet check her out she may have other problems as well, and should be treated and be given pain meds if necessary. Please understand that if the dog is pain and you knowingly allow it to suffer without providing veterinary attention, it is considered animal cruelty and neglect.

I agree with the others that the poor thing probably has arthritis, but you never know. Especially as dogs get older, they really need to be seeing the vet regularly. Some health conditions are easy to keep under control if caught early, which with a dog, means BEFORE you see any symptoms.
Bad breath in a dog is usually a sign of gum disease caused by dirty teeth. Raw bones, toothbrushing, and dental cleanings can all help control that. There are some diseases that can give a dog bad breath, but you'd need to see a vet to decide what exactly the cause is.

Depends on the breed of dog. Some dogs die faster than others. In general, dog ages range from about 11 years to 17 years. As for the breath... I'm not certain.

I've heard that comment before too and what my family and i figured out (all very animal oriented) is that it probably came from the fact that as dogs age they aren't able to take care of their bodies as well. Their teeth and gums aren't as strong (like humans) and their digestive systems aren't as efficient as when they were young. Leading to bad breath and/or lots of gas. If she is sore getting up and moving around that's almost definitely arthritus, but if she doesn't want to be touched at all that's probably something else. It may just be her muscles are sore along with her bones. Either way, it sounds like a vet visit for a checkup.

Often times dogs with ketoacidosis from diabetes or dogs with kidney failure will have distinct breath odors. Sometimes their teeth can just be bad, but that can cause a whole slew of other health problems. If you are concerned with the dog's health please take him to the vet. There are supplements that can help if the soreness and stiffness is from arthritis. He may just have stinky breath just because, too. Good luck!

Some medical conditions can cause really bad breath, such as severe kidney disease, dental problems, ketoacidosis. Not all dogs with bad breath are about to die and not all animals that are about to die have bad breath. As far as your b/fs dog you should take her to the vet. If it is just arthritis there are medications that can make her more comfortable and add quality to her life.

if she doesn't want to be touched, she's probably in pain and your boyfriend needs to take her to the vet to find out why. "old age" isn't a cause for pain, but something specific like arthritis or a skin condition. In any case, a check-up at the vet can't hurt.
