Just to be sure, he should probably be back on antibiotics, probably a type that can be safely taken long-term. A lot of times when a dog's eye becomes blind due to an injury, the body is confused about what to do. In attempts to clear up the problem, the body will often create a lot of eye discharge (just as if you had something in your eye- your body makes your eyes water until the foriegn object is expelled). I wouldn't be worried at all except for the green puss you mentioned. If it is, in fact, puss, that means that there is likely an infection, which would warrant more antibiotics. However, sometimes healthy discharge can be green/yellowish, and if that's all it is, it's not a problem. It's actually healthy, because it's preventing the eye from drying up, which would be even more of a problem.

I don't think having a crusty dead eye with green puss is back to "normal." Did he finish his course of antibiotics? It's possible the vet might need to take the eye out and sew the socket shut (much more comfortable probably), or at least try a stronger antibiotic. Poor Gizzie.

The dog needs to be seen by a vet ASAP. The bad eye needs attention, probably removal. It sounds infected and infections can spread throughout the body. Get it checked out!

Has the vet looked at him since the puss started coming out of his eye? Green puss usually means infection, maybe he will need to revisit the vet, at least ask your aunt to phone the vet to see if green puss is normal , if not, they may have to remove that eye.

Im not sure if you believe in this but all you can do is pray to god.
He can really help your aunt's dog and I'm sure that if the dog survived the porkypine quills and -2o to -30 degrees then there might a pretty good possibility that the dog will make it through.
I dog can still stay alive even if they are blind, I know a lot of blind dogs but they are still healthy and some of them are even older dogs.

Yes he will be ok, but not the eye. You still need to get with a Vet on an antibiotic cream for that eye before it can infect the other eye. Patch it.

He will probably end up losing that eye. If he gets taken to the vet, and gets proper medical attention, he should be able to live a normal life. The only difference is that he will only have one eye.

He needs to be seen by a vet again. Let the vet know there is still infection. Perhaps a veterinary Opthalmologist can help?

Eyes are extremely sensitive, if it has a green discharge and not looking right, I would strongly recommend that he see a vet for further diagnosis and treatment. God BLess.
