Dogs - March 2007

I have. Multiple dog breeds, living in cages in warehouses or kennel blocks with several females to a block. These dogs are NOT pets, they have no family and their one and ONLY purpose in life is to reproduce more of their breed. I am surprised the breeder allowed me in the door.
Have you ever personally seen a similar situation?

My dog just had puppies, and for some reason, she just up and left them. We don't know where she went, but she's gone now, and we're stuck with the newborn puppies. Does anyone know of any possible reason why she left like that?

i have a new puppy that i feed 1 cup of food twice a day. i take her out right after. why does she poop 3 to 4 times a day? also is it normal for older dogs that are house broke to want out side the minute they finish eating something??? it doesn't matter what it is he wants out right after..

She would not respond to me and she bit her tongue to where her mouth was bleeding. She was shaking alot and her eyes were moving all about. I didn't know what to do. So I had rushed her to the hospital, but when I got there she was already dead. They told me that she had probably died from a blood clot, but I did some research and it doesn't match up. It sounds like maybe she had a stroke. I feel helpless because I want to know the exact cause of her death. I have this empty spot in my heart and now have to cremate her body. WILL SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE ME SOME HELPFUL INFORMATION ABOUT WHAT ELSE I CAN DO TO GET SOME ANSWERS.

I have a 4 year old lab/greyhound mix. I have had him since he was 3 month old. Everytime I leave the house he shakes like crazy. When he was really little- I crate trained him and everytime I would leave he would crap all over his cage. It has been 4 years and he still shakes and pants. I have a second dog- thinking that this would help and it hasn't. What can I do???

He is going to the vets tomorrow (public holiday today) but I'm worried about him. There is a foul dirreah leaking out that just started this morning and he has withdrawn from coming near any of us. He hasn't eaten for two nights now ( unusual) but is drinking water. Apart from this he is alert but aloof and smelly. Should I try to give him a laxitive or just wait until the vet sees him? I realise that they can swallow things that get blocked but I thought I had been real careful about that so I'm just not sure!

My dog doesn't really like her dog food. She will eat it but only enough to keep her from starving. She is pretty skinny and I want to put some weight on her. Is there anything that I can feed her that will make her gain weight faster?

My 4 month old lab and german mix won't eat her dry food. I bought her beneful and she didn't seem to eat it, so I would always mix in canned food with the dry food and she would eat it. When it finished I decided to buy a better brand and I bought her Eukanuba thinking she might eat it without canned food, She ate it the first day like crazy, but the second day she didn't even eat a little bit! I don't want her to eat canned food, I want her to learn to eat dry food but she is so picky! What can I do to have her eat the dry food?
