He will not try and use the bathroom at all. He wants to lick the cement and chew sticks. I try and have him go to the designated area where he goes to the bathroom but he will find a spot that is cemented and lick the heck out of that and/or find sticks to chew. Then he will go potty in my house. Even when he is got midstream he will not use the outdoors.

I have heard that you should at least wash them off once a month. But then I heard every two weeks. I only let my dogs out about 4 x's a day each about 5-10 mins during the winter. During the spring about 15-30 mins. Please answer me thanks... Also whats a good shampoo to use for them.

do they get along well with other dogs? I hear they are not like labs or goldens but more like a rottie personality.

I'm looking for an Anti-Cruelty place to put my dog down, I've heard that they are cheaper and I don't have much money. I live in Jusice, Il. and am trying to find the closest Anti Cruelty to me. My dog is 14 and very sick, my Vet says there is nothing else to be done for him. This is a very hard decision and one that I have been putting off for months now. Taz weighs about 80 pounds and most of the time I have to pick him up and take him outside, it's time I turned loose of him as he is not living any quality life. Thanks to anyone who can refer me to a close Anti-Cruelty place.

My female boxer has just developed a big bubble on her ear (looks like it could be puss or something)- the vet cannot get us in for an appt for a few days and I need to know what to do in the meantime. Help! She does not have much wax in her ear (they are pretty clean- we cleaned them last week) and she does not have an insect problems (fleas, mites, etc) but her ear is very itchy now too....

My puppy has developed sort of an obsession with empty (or not empty) plastic bottles. He would rather play with them than any toy or even me. Most toys he bites twice and gets bored. He'll chew on a bottle for about an hour at a time.

Just wondering is this normal?

I got a puppy last fall. As it was fall we didn't bother with testing or preventative meds for heartworm.

When should you start giving the medication in the spring?

IE. when should I take him to the vet for tests and to get the meds?

I have two small eskimo spitz that i love dearly. They are really sweet dogs and i am very attached to them. But i have a problem. I can not seem to get them totally house trained. They are ruining my house. They pee all over every thing. My house smells like a bears den. I keep shampooing, moping, disinfecting, etc. But its getting so old. Oh, and i need to mention that i have four children, they think these dogs are their best friends. So you see what a tough situation im in. Does anyone have any advice on how to get these dogs to stop peeing everywhere. I take them out like every two to three hours. They do pee and poopy outside. Why do they have the desire to pee inside. They don't have many poopy accidents in the house. They insist on having to go out to poopy. Any advice would be helpful. I am at my wits end. Thanks in advance for any advice.

a lady i know has offered to give us an airedale terrier puppy from her next litter. i have met her dog that she plans to breed and it seems like a great animal; it was friendly, easygoing, happy...he was a cool dog. if anyone that has or has had an airedale terrier would let me know what they're really like and some info about training and what to expect, i would really appreciate it!

I have a 5-6 month old male yorkie and he is black with brown in the middle. Ive seen on website photos that some yorkies are light brown with black spots and really really soft, straight shiny hair..and then I see my yorkie which is black and with alittle bit of brown in the face and paws and he has like wavy dull hair.. All the pictures I see like this are puppy yorkies, and the straight hair ones are adults. Do yorkies stay with that hair and some dont? Or is it just the puppies that are born with wavy dull hair and then it growns really straight and shiny?? help please =-(

A skunk sprayed under our deck last night. The smell was so strong it woke us up and filled the whole house. Our dogs were extremely agitated. We are trying to "air out" the house and although I feel a little nauseous, the smell seems to be going away. I've never heard that just smelling a skunk's scent is harmful, but I just want to be sure that it isn't harmful to my dogs. (They were not sprayed, but are acting strange.)

I can't stop her from barking at people at the door and when we tell her to stop she ignores, she has also nearly bitten the postman twice!!!
Also i would really love her to walk by my side (have tried the Halti and leash method and is not really working) otherwise she is a playful happy dog and loves her walkies and nosing out the window :) please help
