My female boxer has just developed a big bubble on her ear (looks like it could be puss or something)- the vet cannot get us in for an appt for a few days and I need to know what to do in the meantime. Help! She does not have much wax in her ear (they are pretty clean- we cleaned them last week) and she does not have an insect problems (fleas, mites, etc) but her ear is very itchy now too....

Sounds like an aural hematoma. It is very uncomfortable for your dog, so I would see if another vet in your area can get her in sooner. These sites have some good info.

It could be a couple of different things, the first thing that comes to my mind is a hematoma from shaking her head. I would keep an eye on it, there is really nothing you can do at home if it is a hematoma it needs to be treated by the vet. You may want to make another call to your vet and let them know your dog has what may be a hematoma and see if they can get you in earlier.

Look at it very close to see if maybe there is some sort of splinter. It sounds like it could be an abcess. If it is, don't panic. It will haveto be lanced and drained and you will probably have to give her antiboitics. My cats get abcesses from fighting. Little wounds that just get infected. Mind you, It can be painful so don't mess with it to much untill you get her to the vet. Good luck.

this could be a sting or something lodged in there, the dog should be ok because it is going to the vet's office in a few days,
When my dog had an internal infection of the ear, he recommended hydrogen peroxide until I could get him in, so I don't see a problem with treating it with a dab or two of that. if you are that worried about it though, you could call around to different vet offices to see if they can see the dog sooner or if they recommend something to treat it temporarily until they can see the dog.

well if your vet cannot get the problem fixed right now then wash your dog 3 times a week so it will prevent other bubbles on the dogs body. Then maybe it will go away

I will go online and search about this when i find out i will give it to you.

My dog went through that with bouth ears.
It is puss from an infection.
The ear will blote to the point where it will pop and the liquid will vent. My dogs ears are now all wrinkled and not as soft as they use to be.
