I'm looking for an Anti-Cruelty place to put my dog down, I've heard that they are cheaper and I don't have much money. I live in Jusice, Il. and am trying to find the closest Anti Cruelty to me. My dog is 14 and very sick, my Vet says there is nothing else to be done for him. This is a very hard decision and one that I have been putting off for months now. Taz weighs about 80 pounds and most of the time I have to pick him up and take him outside, it's time I turned loose of him as he is not living any quality life. Thanks to anyone who can refer me to a close Anti-Cruelty place.

There's one in Chicago, but I don't know how far away Justice is from there. Give that one a call and see if there's a location near you. Their number is 312-644-8338.

This is a very sad time I know. I've been there, and it tears at your heart so bad. But you have to look at it this way. Pup has lived a good long happy life, and you and he/she have gained many happy memories from that life. But to let pup continue on would have them suffer and thats more cruel than anything else you could do. So, put your mind at ease and know that even though its the toughest thing you'll have to do, its the best for pup. If your vet does not charge a minimal charge for the service, you may try your local SPCA. If you have a large amount of land, you may want to ask for the remains so you can give pup a decent burial. I'm not going to say what they do after the process, its too upsetting.

Call your local shelter or spca, they should be able to help you if you are in financial difficulty. Explain the situation to them and they will help. Or ask your vet, they are usually sympathetic and may be able to help you themselves. I am so very sorry, i hope you get the help you need. I hope he waits for you in a better place.

In new zealand I have had the vet come to my house and put my dog down, was very comfortable for him to being surroundings that he knew.

I don't know of any places, but I am very sorry. Atleast when is put down, he will be in a better place, where he is not suffering. Good luck

Just let your vet do it.
It's worth the extra money not to have to go looking. Isn't it worth it for him to be comfortable with you as he goes? Lots of times those places don't let you be with them.
