Yes you can. I have a friend who trained her yorkshire terrier to use a litter box. It's great.

I want to train my cats to use the toilet.

Yes you can!!!! There are several companys that make a litter designed just for dogs--the kitty litter is just enticing to them as far as food so dont use that with him because it can cause some pretty big problems--i have a teacup chihuahua who will pee outside but not poo so she is paper trained at the moment we are switching her to litter asap we have her newspaper in a small litter pan in her kennel so switching that to litter should be fairly easy it is like a cat--training just has to be consistent-when he starts sniffing around take him to his potty area weather that be a litter pan or a patch of grass-------GOOD LUCK!!!!

There are trainers who can train any animal to do anything! However, in my experience small dogs are harder to train than large dogs.

If you can train a small dog to go to the bathroom (quaint way of saying it eh!) in a certain area of your back yard, then you should be able to train the dog to use a litter.

Yes you can. Purina (I think) makes a little designed especially for dogs. Unlike clay cat litter it is more like a pellet shape. Looks similar to compressed paper. You can learn more about it at www.doglitter.com. They also make specially designed litter boxes for dogs.

I have never actually heard of any dog useing a litter box. What's wrong with newspaper if you can't let it outside to use the bathroom?! Don't hurt your dogs pride with this question!! It's a cats world to use the litter box dear!!

Your best bet is to train it to never poop in the house, I would recommend crate training.
A friend of mine tried to train her dachshund pup to go in a litter box...didn't work...to this day her 4 year old dachshund has no clue where to go to the bathroom, so she just goes wherever she wants.
I have 2 doxies and they are both crate trained.
