My puppy has developed sort of an obsession with empty (or not empty) plastic bottles. He would rather play with them than any toy or even me. Most toys he bites twice and gets bored. He'll chew on a bottle for about an hour at a time.

Just wondering is this normal?

Buddy absolutely loves to toss them up in the air and chase after them. Just make sure you replace it often because they can choke or get a blockage from plastic fragments.
By the way, it is very normal and affordable!

I have eight Shih Tzu's I have plastic water bottles all over the place. They love playing with them more than anything so I would say yes, it is normal..and cheap lol Matter in fact I include a empty water bottle in my puppy kits.

I thought I just had a weird dog. I have a runt of the litter Spitz and one of his favorite things to play with is an empty gallon plastic bottle. I think he likes it because it is almost as large as he is and when he jumps on it, the bottle shoots out from under him so he can chase it. Lots of fun for us both.

Yes! This is very normal. If I give my corgi a plastic bottle she will play with it until it is time to go to bed. I think they like it because it rolls around really well and makes it fun for them to chase it. I think they like the noise it creates when they bite it too.

Plastic has a kind of sweet taste, or so the vet tells me. But stop the dog from getting into this habit because it leaves him open to intestinal blocks from swallowing pieces that get stuck in the smaller parts of the bowel. It also leaves him open to ingesting something toxic if he finds a bottle of something really nasty.

It's fine. He just might be fascinated with the bottles...Lol. How old is your pup and what breed is he? He might be teething and wants something harder to chew on....Try getting him some kong toys, or something that is rubbery...

My Chihuahua won't chew on bottles...But it would be funny to see since he is small...I forgot to bring his chew toy to work once, and he would fetch bottle caps...But, I wouldn't let him chew on them because the edges are kinda sharp, and he might have swallowed it.

At least it is not glass bottles! Mine have the same erratic behavior sometimes. If he is not swallowing or getting bleeding gums then let him have at it!
