Take your dog back to the vet to be looked at. Without me being able to look at it myself there is no way I can tell you "oh it'll be fine."
Good luck

Yes, contact your vet. He or she will probably put a cone around the dog's neck so it doesn't do this again. If your dog is not bleeding and it's been a while since it's had the stiches, it can probably wait till the morning like if it's spay/neuter stiches. However, if they are recent stiches for let's say a nasty dog attack, you might want to atleast call a 24 hr. animal hospital but it will be expensive if you have to go in, just forewarning you. Good luck. Definitely, talk to your normal vet first thing in the morning though!

Take the dog back to the vet as soon as possible. It is possible that if you leave the insision open, it can get infected and then you will have to spend more money on curring him or her. The doctor might want to put a colar cone on the dog, so he won't be able to get to the insion.

as long as the incision is NOT gaping open, U R fine.
IF its Open , get back to the vet! germs can get inside and cause infection.
PREVENTION:
Get a "Elizabethian" or "buster" collar at pet store or your Vet.
(cone / lampshade shaped plastic thing) to put around his neck, too keep the dog from licking/chewing suture site.
U can probably make one out of a empty gallon milk jug- if you can't afford to buy one.

It would help if I had more information. What kind of surgery did he have? Is he bleeding. How long ago was the surgery? He should have had a cone put around his neck so he couldn't get to his stitches. So If you can give me more information I could maybe answer that question for you , So to be safe side you better call your vet.

it depends on why he had the stiches and how long they have been in
if they have been in for a couple of days it is probably not an emergency because the skin should have had a couple of says to heal and help hold the muscle layer together, if there is any opening in the incision line then yes they need to be resutured, please keep your animal indoors , restrict activity and no bathing during the time that the sutures are in , hope this helps

If it has been more than a couple of days, the vet will not re-stitch him anyway. So I would keep them clean and dry, and if he licks them it is okay!! That is their instinct and that is what wild animals do. The saliva somewhat sanatizes it. But if he starts to grow what's called "proud flesh" (which is white and sometimes smells) then you should take him back. He should be fine though. Good luck!!

Naughty puppy! Have the vet check it out and if he needs more stitches he may have to wear this funny looking cone around his neck to keep him from chewing his stitches. My dog had to wear one once and he hated it. I had to cut it smaller because he couldn't get to his food, other than that it worked great. Good Luck!

Go back to the vet and get it restitched. Also try using a cone so he cant reach the stitches and pull them out again!

He needs to go to the vet to get it re-stitched. If you do not take him soon he will have to have surgery to clean up the lines (cut the ends off of the incision) so that they will heal together.
