My dogs name is Angel she's 9months old.We love her but when I take her out she pulls and pulls.I say NO when she pulls but she keeps on doing it over and over again.I think the problem started when we got a new puppy on 2/28/07 we gave him away on 3/14/07 Angel has been acting strange ever since we had gotten the new puppy. How can me and my grandparents stop her from doing all of the nonsence and not yelling telling her so that she can get the picture to be a good dog of ownership. Please Answer...

So my dog is just recently starting throwing up almost everyday at night. We just recently change his from this natural thing to kibbles and bits. With the kibbles and bits, we mix some plain dog food from Pathmark Brand. We feed him about to bowls a day and alittle below half way to the bowl we put the dog food. My dog is a 2 year old black pug named whitey?

Please Help!!!!!!!!!

Small dogs do have smaller bladders, but because there is less of a body there needing hydration their intake should also be smaller, right? So are their bladders proportionately smaller or is there some other reason?

This is based on the logic of small dog=small bladder that can't hold much. If a bladder can't hold much, it must empty often. If thedog drinks the same amount of water relative to their size as a big dog, shouldn't it not really make a difference?

I am 14 years old and am struggling to take care of my 4 year old golden retriever, Bonzo.

I feel I am the only one in my family who walks him, plays with him and generally takes care of him. My dad also occasionally walks him but he works away most of the time. My brother could also walk him but he's too lazy!!

Also, I fear he is not getting the excercise he should be gettin because I'm not allowed to go to the only areas suitable for letting Bonzo off the lead. I walk him (on the lead) twice round a 1/4 mile stretch of grass beside the main road. Then I play with him in my back garden until he gets tierd.

I love taking care of him but I have exams soon and I'm afraid I won't have time for Bonzo.

There is also the problem of the fact that my dog isn't even allowed around the house! He stays in a cupboard under the stairs and is in the garden most of the time.

I really need help!!!

She is crate trained and whenever she is let out of the crate she will most likely potty. She doesnt tell me she has to go!!! Should i be training her to tell me she has to go? She responds when i tell her to go potty outside! Is this a territorial or respect problem??

My Labrador is 30 months old and went on heat around Feb this year. We mated her with another Labrador, we took her to her vet on the 28th day from when they first mated (we gave them 3 shots) the vet stated he couldnt feel anything and to come back the following week which would have been 28 days from the last time they mated. On our second visit to the vets he stated he couldnt confirm or deny whether or not she was pregnant but he felt she was just having a phantom pregnancy. I asked if there was a further test other than him just feeling for pups and I got a "why do you need to know so urgently", and then told us to come back in a week. My pouchy Remy has turned off her food, got heaps bigger in the abdomen, has enlarged nipples, and is nursing one of her toys a little but not a lot, our dog is an inside lab and can normally stay in all night but lately hasnt been unable to stick the whole night out with out a toilet break.

We have an 11 week old pup. She is really good and cries when she needs to go no.2 so we take her out, but she hasn't grasped that weeing in the house isn't good and does it on the carpet when we let her run around (we have made a run for her the rest of the time). We hold her head down to the floor as recommended by trainers and say 'NO' in her ear. Any other tried & tested tips from dog owners? Thanks

Well, they say that if you have a problem training your puppy, then you should strictly crate train them. This means no outside crate activity except for eating and going potty.
They also say that "tie-outs" or keeping your dog outside all day because they run wild in the house, is not good. These kinds of dogs will go crazy in the house because they dont know how to act in the house.

Here is my point: Aren't the "tied out" dogs and the "strictly crate trained" dogs kinda the same? They both dont know how to act in the house whether it be running wild or going potty. If a crate trained dog only stays in its crate, when it finally gets out, it has no preconcieved notion to not eliminate there. Same as the tied out dog who is let into the house and runs wild because it does not know how to act. Therefore, is crate training really effective??does it cause bad behaviors cuz the dog is unable to walk around the house, and therefore doesnt know he or she shouldn't eliminate there?

Yesterday i was trying to teach my dog beg. He is a border collie X bernese mountain dog(2years old), so very intelligent (don't mean to brag), he knows thousands of tricks. But the one this he can't master is beg. He already knows jump, paw, and hi-five and this confuses him. I get him to sit and then lift the treat above his nose slowly and he either barks(beacause i taught him speak) or he gives me his paw or hi-five or jumps up. Am i doing something wrong? If so, can anyone tell me how to do it properly. And no stupid answers please, if you dont know it then don't answer it lol. Thanks =] xx

I have a 10 week old Golden Retriever. She has it in her head that going potty is for in my kitchen. The first week I had her she was going outside no problem. Now she decided that she'd rather hold it outside till she comes back in. I've had her outside for at least an half hour. Also I take her out at least every 15 minuter to a half hour. I don't understand what happened. She was going outside to potty. Now she waits till I bring her back in. She holds it alnight in her crate. She has never went potty in her crate. If someone could give me advise on how to change he mind back to potty outside and not inside. Also I only give her the kitchen area the rest of the house is blocked off.

I got a 10 year old rescue german shepherd cross dog last year, and took her for her annual booster this week. the vet did a routine check of her and found a heart murmur. He also said her teeth were in a bad state - they were when we got her- but didnt say anything about these things being linked. I've been reading up on it and apparently dental disease can cause heart murmurs.
the vet said that as she is very active and doesnt display any other signs of heart disease that he is quite happy for her just to be checked again next year, unless we notice a change in her in the meantime.
Assuming the state of her teeth has been the cause does anyone know whether its possible to reverse the effects of this, and get rid of the murmur - obviously I'll be trying to clean her teeth & get rid of plaque etc with chews.

I gave him a bath last night and when he was scratching I worried I did not wash out all of the soap; but since (and in the middle of the night!) I've given him 2 more and nothing has changed. I figure he's trembling because he's unhappy, but the scratching is baffling me. He was scratching a little before the bath, but I can't honestly recall how much; but it wasn't as intense as it is now. He's really restless and keeps snuggling against my legs. His ears and nose are cold. Am I killing my dog?? :(
