My dogs name is Angel she's 9months old.We love her but when I take her out she pulls and pulls.I say NO when she pulls but she keeps on doing it over and over again.I think the problem started when we got a new puppy on 2/28/07 we gave him away on 3/14/07 Angel has been acting strange ever since we had gotten the new puppy. How can me and my grandparents stop her from doing all of the nonsence and not yelling telling her so that she can get the picture to be a good dog of ownership. Please Answer...

Get a Gentle Leader for your dog. They come with a DVD that will show you how to introduce it to your dog. Then, you can control your dog's head and you can reward her with treats that you bring along on your walk - your dog will see that not pulling is much more rewarding and fun than pulling.
These are safe, humane training devices. Good luck with your dog!

Your local pet store should have collars that are specially designed to aid in the process of teaching your dog not to pull you along on a walk. Sometimes a simple choke chain and a sharp tug on the leash will get them to understand, but it might be a good idea to consult a vet on what you should do. You might also try tying your dog out on a runner so that it gets used to the idea of not being able to walk with something restricting its freedom to charge off. Good Luck

This sounds a bit wierd but i learnt it after watching a tv show about badly behaved dogs. In the wild the dominant dog takes lead by making a loud, deep noice when another dog steps out of line. Sounds strange yeah? But this might work and it will let your dog know that you are the dominant one, just try it and see what happens =]

Hope this helps

my 4 year old spitz had the same problem, so took him to a trainer and they recommended a pincher collar. it's kinda like a choker chain but it has spikes on it. i looks scaryer than it really is. when sized right it will be comfortable. when she is on the leash it will pinch her neck and she will stop. it really doesn't hurt i swear! ask any one at your local pets plus and they should know what you are talking about. now when i take out the collar my dog getts real excited and never pulls. hope it helps

this method that i used, takes a while but is well worth it. Take her out for a walk to a near by park. start walking keeping her on a very short lead with her walking aside you. every time she trys to run off/ pull you change direction. you may find this will take you a couple of weeks. but she should soon get the idea of it. this worked perfect with me (lots of pursurverance)

when your dog pulls you forward, instead of just yanking back on the leash, give a little tug downward so the dogs head goes down, trust me it works. i have a german sheperd that used to the the same thing.
