After or during activity he will sometimes stick out his neck, flare nostrils and wheezes as he desperately gasps for air and sometimes hack during the gasp. His stomach flares in and out during each gasp. Since all this started I noticed he has a light wheezing during normal breathing. My vet checked him out after the first couple episodes and was unsure. He wanted me to get it on camera so he could see. Not good enough. Please help!

It seems this is VERY small for a dane, her mom was 140 and father was 160, so I wouldn't think it was genetic. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated

We have a 60 lb border collie/retriever mix and she is always digging her way out!!! It's sooo annoying, not to mention damaging. I walk her almost every night for 30 min, she is rarely outside and she still digs! Is there a way to train her not to dig?

I feel like a shelter I got a puppy from is scamming and in it for the money since they knew my dog had a disease yet didn't tell me and sold me the dog for over 100 dollars (she hadn't had anything done medical wise that would make it high), I emailed them asking about a few things and they didn't answer and know my puppy's brothers and sisters which were all sold probably have it now too. Is there a way to report a shelter?

Don't people get it? It's like a car....you can be given a free car, but you can't drive it without a valid driver's license, current registration, gas, insurance, etc. Money money money. You can get a free dog, but you have to pay vet bills, food, toys, treats, emergencies, etc. Nothing about owning a dog translates to "free".

Why are people always asking for FREE dogs?

For a mixed breed female dog. Don't tell me to look at her personality please. She's cute and playful. Please just leave names but NO websites!! I don't like names like Princess, Queenie, Cutie, Lily, Lola, Bella, Chloe, etc.

I am asking this because I have on occasion left my sister in the care of my dogs while running to the store.. She was already old enough to do stuff on her own and stay by herself for a few minutes but I felt far safer leaving her with my dogs than alone.. Do you feel the same? Do you trust your dogs that much to leave them alone with a young person? I know I do.. and I felt that my dogs would protect her in case of emergency far better than even I could. By the way my dogs are well trained and were raised with my sister around and they love her just as they do me. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that she could do anything to those dogs and they would not hurt her.. do you trust your dogs like that or do you secretly doubt them? Would you put the life of your loved ones in the paws of your dog, or would you be worried the dog would hurt your loved one rather than protect them?

I have 1 female dog and 2 males. My female just finished up her heat cycle about 5 days ago (lots of fun around here). However, the two males are still a little on edge. They aren't trying to mount her anymore, but they are still on edge around each other. We've had to break up a couple of fights between them. Before our female went into heat, they never fought.

How long does it take for the effects of our females heat cycle to wear off? Will the males get back to normal eventually? Is there anything we can do to help?

I just adopted a 1 year old black and white female pit bull. My boyfriend and I are having a hard time coming up with a name. I don't like names that are too girly like cookie, candy, princess... But I also don't want to name her a really boyish name like Buster. She is very playful, but also VERY sweet. Do you have any suggestions?

I have a 11 month old lab and we was planning on putting a fence up so we could play with him outside and not have worry about him running off, but we don't have the money for a fence now because our older dog has had a lot of medical problems and the vet bills have been expensive. What would be a good way to train him to stay in the yard, and of course we will not leave him out there by himself.

Last week I got a puppy from a shelter and she is almost 9 weeks now. She was fine the whole week but the past few days started getting sick and took her to the vet and she tested positive for parvo. However, I bought this puppy not for myself but for a gift for my aunt when I go home from school next weekend. I am not financially able to pay for such huge vet bills as I figured she would be fine for just the one week I had her. The shelter said she had her first parvo and deworming too but I had to sign a contract saying they weren't responsible for the dog's health after it left. I really don't know what to do...the shelter won't take her back, I don't have the money for her treatment, but I can't just let a baby dog be killed. It's just hard since I've spent over 400 on her in just one week but won't even be able to take her more than likely. Can someone give me advice??
