Well I would do the same!! Celery is very bitter. I don't think dogs like bitter tastes!!
For everyone saying it is because dogs are carnivores this is partly untrue. Yes they are carnivores, but as a result of dosmestication they have come to eat wide range of foods because of us humans feeding them the kind of foods we eat. However not all dogs like the tastes of particular non-meat foods. If dogs were purely carnivores than why do dog food companies put veg in some dog food products. E.g., potatoes, carrots, peas, etc!

One of our local magazines had an article sporting vets, who made a point that one is not suppose to feed dogs normal house food on a large scale. The best thing for the dog is normal dog pellets which has been created after long research and which is a well balanced diet for a dog. They state that even if you gave your dog steaks everyday, the dog would in the end suffer from malnutrition. So I presume it is not totally true that the domesticated dog is just a meat eater. According to this article the vets are saying give your dog dog pellets as its main staple diet.

I used to have 2 dogs they would eat anything and I mean anything, they loved veg, however not celery either, I suppose due to their very strong sense of smell and taste it may as some people find be too bitter and strong flavour, I asume .As to them being carnivores, well my vet recommended veg as part of their diet to control their weight, he said he wished more owners did this , too many are overweight with the junk food and rubbish their also overweight owners eat, they think they are being kind but it is cruel and chocolate can KILL a dog. Oh and I love celery, it also burns more calories being digested than is actually in it.

my dogs eat celery! but then again they eat ANYTHING! dogs may be carnivorous but when wild dogs/wolves etc pull down their prey it is the stomach they go for first-they eat the partly digested plant matter first THEN they go for the large meaty parts and finally the bones! also dogs in the wild-and many pet dogs too-will eat wild plants and grasses-mine will eat dandelions with relish when they start to grow in spring, they will also root out fresh new grass shoots, all this goes to supplement their vary varied diet and does them no harm!

Dogs like meats, not fruits and vegeatables. Not to mention, celery is very stringy and it would drive a dog nuts, but its bitter.
