Well, you can call the pound and have an animal control officer come take him away. Or, you can adopt him. Make nice with him. Take him to the vet to be checked out and work with both dogs so they can get to know each other and in no time they'll be best of friends =)

Call your local animal control office or animal shelter, and they'll take the dog away. If it's tame enough to make a good pet, they'll give it vaccinations and get it neutered and try to place it into a good home. If not, the dog may have to be put down. But either way, it's not roaming the streets and making a nuisance of itself.
Some people mentioned the option of keeping the dog for yourself. I don't really recommend this, since you say that it's scared of people and your dog is afraid of it. It probably wouldn't make the best companion for your dog, and you should only consider keeping it if you're very experienced with dogs and know how to bring a timid dog out of its shell. It'll also cost a lot of money for vet work, since it's probably gone its whole life without being to the vet.

Well if you don't mind sharing a bit of your dogs food, you could give him his own bowl. But don't just let him run wild, it's not safe for him or the other neighborhood dogs. Call a shelter and perhaps take him into your house, he'd just need a separate room from your other dog but the shelter should come right away.

I had this problem when I lived in Texas, every time I walked my dog this stray dog followed us. Eventually it was jumping at my dog, e venthough it was friendly to me. I called animal services and they told me they did not have room for it, I went into a vet's office near my house and asked him what to do. He said if I gave him three days boarding he would keep the dog for three days and advertise it for adoption in the office. I did that. At the end of a period of time I know noone adopted it and I believe he put it to sleep.
Here in Florida they ask if you can trap the dog until they get there and will come and pick it up.

Your best option is to immediately call animal control. That dog may have a disease or infection that may affect you. Set aside some food for the stray dog away from your dog so that way you won't feel guilty. Animal control will get him a proper home and family...perhaps even you!

Call your local animal shelter ro animal control. The only other sane option would be to adopt it yourself, and that can be costly. It would also be touch and go for quite some time since you know nothing of the dogs history.

For Heaven's sake! DON'T call the SPCA. Why end the poor dog's life. Notify the police, or a shelter. Most of them try to find a home for strays. Put a message on your local stores message board. I bet his owner is worried...if not, a new owner will " love him to pieces"!.

Call your local vet or dog warden.
I've caught anywhere between 4-6 timid strays myself by approaching it everyday and trying to feed it until it gets used to me (which can take weeks!). Then I normally try to get it used to other people, maybe give it a bath, and try to adopt it out myself...but this may be too much work for you.
Worst case, the pound would be willing to come and get it.

Keep your dog and it's food inside. I hope you're not leaving your dog out ALL the time. At least not where other animals have access to it.
Don't you have a Humane Society to call where you live? Animal Control? ASPCA?
