We recently got a German Shepard mix dog from a rescue. He was about 5 months old. He bit my roomates 2 yr old son on the ear and head and his ear was bleeding badly and his head had teeth marks and blood. I didnt see anything wrong that the boy did except tryed to pet and hug the dog, but nothing that should have made him react that way. I have 2 young children too. I didnt know what else to do, I took the dog back and told the people what he had done. I cant halde that happening again, I have too many children in the neighborhood and that come play at my house. I cryed when I took him back. Did I do the right thing?

What is wrong with this dog?
I just left a shoe store where a woman had her dog at work. I noticed that the dog was off balance...toward the right side. She was a basset hound and seriously skinny. I said wow...she's skinny and the lady said yes she has been really losing weight in the past few days. I sat down with the dog and she just layed her head in my lap. Weak, is not the word for this dog. She also had her eyes almost covered with skin/tissue that is normally in the corner of your eyes. When standing her hind foot was turned under...like she couldn't pick it up to put the pad of her foot on the floor.
I volunteered to run the dog to the vet. for her but she said she was trying to get her brother to take her, and she was having a hard time getting in touch with him...but she would make him take her to the vet. I cried for the dog as I left...another customer was kneeled down praying for the dog. What is wrong? Any sugestions...

We have a female pug/shar pei mix that is closer to the size of a pug. She is 7 months old now and was wondering at what age a female dog goes into heat. I AM NOT planning on breeding her, but would like to know if I can still get her spayed before her first heat.

I walk him almost every day for about 1 to 1-1/2 hrs. He is on Rimadyl for pain but how can I tell if he is getting the right amount of exercise? My vet told me NOT to let him run, but he loves to. How do you stop an active dog from playing so hard? Also how do I know which surgery is best for him........total hip replacement or femoral head? His left leg is completely out of the socket!
Thank you,
Christine Q.

how do i get my dad to buy me a dog? I have asked this question 3 times on yahoo! answers and have tried 1. I tried to talk to him about it, but my dad just said no and didn't let me say anything else. I am going to give him a letter in like 2 days, but I don't know if it will work. And my dad is nice, but if you ask him 1 thing more than once in like a month, he will get furious. That is why I am scared to tell him I will be responsible enough.
He does not have allergies, because he pets all kinds of dogs with no problem. I know for sure he does not have bad memories of dogs, since he was too poor to own a dog, and his neighborhood was probably like that, too. I researched all about the dog breeds, and he has seen me read a book of dogs, and he just ignores it. I also don't think it's cuz of the money, because he has a good job and just got promoted, so when I get my braces,it'll be free and he's willing to spend $ 4 me

is a maltese good for a 1st time dog owner? thx!

My husband and I just brought home an older Pomeranian, she has two things I'd like to break her of. She hates the leash and whenever she eats, she does not stay at her bowl or in the kitchen. I've already figured out how to solve the leash problem, but I need help with the feeding. How can I get her to stay at the bowl or eat the kibble in the kitchen? She is taking some in her mouth then jumping on the couch and eating it there, getting the couch dirty. What can I do? I feel bad because she will not eat any other way. When I see her doing it, I bring her back to the bowl, but she won't eat at that point and will sulk on the couch. Help!

My 2 pit mixes that are usually best friends had a 15 sec scrap. The dominant pup is slightly injured. When he yelps out in pain she goes back in to attack mode. We have them separated until he is feeling better. He goes to the vets in 2 days. (Earliest they could see him) He's limping. No serious injuries except right front leg is non-weight bearing. It is swollen. The vet told me that being pack animals and she is leader of the pack, they will do away with a weak pack member. Two years ago he had an injury and did the same thing. She acted odd with him for a short period of time. What should I do???

He eat some grass which he just brought up & his stool was loose and dark reddish brown. This started yesterday, I tried him with chicken and rice but he still will not be tempted. What can I do for him?

They are both 2 months old, and previously they often play fought with each other. However, when I was feeding them they turned aggressive on each other and one of the pups suffered a cut on the nose. How can I curb or prevent this type of aggressive behavior in the future?

I already have a female poodle who is 6 months old, But now my cousin's girlfriend wants me to take another so that the six month old wont be lonely I only have classes Tuesday to thurdsay with the exception of Monday where I only have one, so I dont really see the problem. I'm not gone too long durring the day. Also I'm looking at the issue from a financial point of view. I had to spend a reasonable ammount of money on Spicy and that is only going to increase as she gets older. I dont really want or think I can handle another dog even though It seems like a good idea since the puppy I have now will have a buddy. Also she's possessive of me that alone is telling me its a bad idea. Shes still aggressive after being spayed. I woludnt want to put a two month old puppy through that it seems unreasonable but I am stuck and cant decide what to do.

Hi!
I have a 3 month old Lab puppy who sometimes barks alot - even if we have just played or taken her out for a good walk. It's not like we arent doing something about it. Any suggestions on how to stop her from barking without any reason?
Thanks!

PS. I really dont like Anti-Bark collars, so please dont suggest that ^_^

They can't be, can they? I've seen what they eat, they wouldn't eat it if they could taste it.. I mean when he can get away with it, my dog will occasionally eat horse poo! Really, is there any need? And have you smelled dog food? It's like meat dredged from the bottom of a canal.

Wow, we still had some money left over to spend on him but they told us he was ready to come home. When we picked him up he looked ten times worse then when we dropped him off. Its like they just wanted to get rid of him. He also looked like he has been sitting in his own urine and pheces the whole three days. We were very upset. We spent $1,700. for three days. Is there anything we can do? I want to report them but i'm just not sure if we can.
