I'm concerned that he might have the flu but im just self diagnosing . i changed his diet because he usually has wet food as well as his dry but only for dinner . Ive only been giving him dry food. the diarreah stopped yesterday but now he still threw up i was thinking about giving him pepto bismol or mylanta to settle him. ive researched it and it wont hurt him . but what do i do for fever which i think he might have ?

Give it rice with no butter or salt, just regular white rice. Mix it with a little water. And dont let him eat anyhting else. It could jsut be old age. But also labs (ive go ta choc. lab and this is what the breeder told us) have the most sensitive stomachs of all dogs and they can bloat and tie easily if the dog eats real fast and the food doesn't ahve lots of water in it. So it could be bloated and just watch wha tit eats. In this case DO NOT let it eat anything besides rice with water. Also u can go to a pet store and ask someoen there, but some peopel there dont know anything about animals, so i would just call your vet and ask him and explain that u cant afford vet carea nd they might even give u a discount. Or u could call the breeder that u got him from or anyother lab. breeder that u can find the number.
Good Luck and hope this helps!

If your dog will not hold anything down, he needs to be taken to a vet. If your county has a humane society, you can take it there, and say you found the dog. Depending on the facility, the most you would have to pay is $75. Just tell the vet you found the dog, running around in the streets.. but its loveable or something stupid and that you are going to find out if you can keep him. While they do what they need to do, come back a few days later and pick him back up. Just make sure they dont give him away. Its true sometimes they do have weak stomachs, I've had this happen to me in the past and gave the dog Bread. It seemed to help for whatever reason.. Try that if not ... humane society. You're going to have to or else your dog will surely die from starvation.

!st off he has an upset stomach put him on a diet of boiled rice and chicken something mild on his stomach. This is what the vet suggested for my 12 year old spitz. after an week she got better I think she had the flu. Thats the best advice I can give you if you cant afford the vet

So you can't afford a vet - ask yourself this, can you afford to loose your dog? You are taking a big chance in just trying to treat this yourself. Granted it could be something as simple as a stomach bug, but it could also be something much more serious - pancreatitis comes to mind. Find the money and get him in!

My dog did this and he ended up having heartworms so just be precautionary. Watch him and my advice is to call your vet and just ask him what he thinks it is free and a good opinion it is always better to be safe than sorry and your vet should tell you what to do.
Good luck
Luv lots

your dog is dehydrated and is going to die if you don't get it to a vet now. go to a vet. so you don't eat for a day or two. don't own a pet if you can't take care of it. God I hate this when people love their animals or so they say but when it gets sick they just can't take it to the vet. Nothing makes me angrier!

You need to speak urgently to a vet but personally whether I could afford it or not I wouldn't deny veterinary treatment for my dog.
