Why does my dog eat grass?

Grass is to dogs what epicac or sticking our finger down our throats is to humans, she's sick and needs to vomit and the grass will do it for her if she eats enough of it. But be careful most vets wouldn't recommend letting her do that, cause they can inhale a blade of grass and it goes down their trachea and gets hung up making them cough and sound terrible. It can only be removed by them finally coughing it up or usually requires an expensive and invasive trans trache wash. Hydrogen Peroxide also works to make them vomit, but call a vet first if you need to induce vomiting in an emergency poisioning situation for proper doses.

Some dog's eat grass when they have an upset stomach. It makes them throw up.

Other dogs eat it cause they just want to, like my new puppy.

Like everyone said, its usually because they have an upset stomach. My dog did this alot, and I just figured it was because he eats anything and everything he can find. I took him to the vet in December and found out that he has the beginning stages of pancreatitis. So, if your dog does this often, then I would check with the vet.

all the dogs and cats i have had do this . sometimes they just have a nibble of grass. i supppose its just a bit of food for them . other times they will eat the grass in larger amounts to make themself vomit.
i dont know why they do it but they all do and that life.

my dog eats grass when he eats people food because that means they have a stomache ache or to make themselves barf. also my dogs when she is haveing a puppy spert she eats grass too to help he poopie

THEY EAT GRASS WHEN THEY THINK ITS GOING TO RAIN OUTSIDE ITS A GOOD SINE OF A HEALTHY DOG TO YOU DONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT TO MUCH.ONLY WHEN THEY PUCK IT UP TO THATS OK TO.
