My black lab puppy seems to mimic a pig snorting and grunting whenever she lifts her head up to get a treat, (for instance) She is otherwise a very healthy dog, always playing. She is a bit overweight, could that be the problem?

Is something wrong?
PLEASE HELP!

My dog was diagnosed with hip dysphlasia a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately it is in both hips. We were given meds and special food for him (helps loose weight) and they are costing $300/month. Yes, i know it is a lot, but i will do anything for my horses and dog.
We got him from the SPCA and we/they think that he is a lab/shephard/bernese mnt dog.
He is now beginning to have difficulties even sitting down and getting up. He also sometimes yelps and cant walk on his right leg, as it is worse than the left. We cant even let him go off-leash at a off-leash park for 15mins or else he will be in excrusiating pain. and we have tried so many meds for this but none seem to help.
The most scariest thing off all thought is that he is not even 2yrs. He is 1yr and 9mths!!
Any sujestions or what our next step should be? I dont want to see him always being like this, in all this pain.

THX.

P.S. the hip surgery is out of the question- it wastes the puppy years, as the docs say.

I once knew a Pomeranian/Long-Haired Chihuahua mix named Spike who was a GREAT dog. Also some Chihuahua/Dachshund mix puppies, they were cool, a Lab/Greyhound mix named Huckleberry who was a real gentleman, a Bull Terrier (Spuds McKenzie type)/Dachshund mix named Frankie, she's a clown. . .
Can you think of any good ones?

Not really a question, BUT I have read mixed feelings about crate training the puppy.

He cries and cries when in his cage. But I really do want to crate train him. Tonight, after putting him in his cage, telling him "cage" (so he learns), I covered the front of it with a blanket...he stopped barking, whining, etc.

I just want to know...is this a positive step in his crate training, or am I just making it more difficult in the long run?

I don't want to think I am doing right, only to have it backfire later.

Any ideas on this method? Good? Bad?

My dog has recently been seperated from his brother after being together for 4 years because they fight and it was becoming serious. He has been wimpering at the back door and acting very weird and depressed. We thought he might be lonely so we went to the pound and introduced him to a few younge female dogs. (he is desexed) But he acted very strange with the other dogs and even a bit mean. So we didnt get him a friend. He is a staffy X who has always loved playing with other dogs. What do you think is wrong?????? please help

Ok i just got a four year old shihtzu and i need to know what to do and when to do it. she is a little shy because we got her from my sister and she kicked her around (not like across the room) because she was trying to deal with 2 kids and was getting frustrated and the dog would be in the way. Well, they didn't really care about the dog so we took her. She's a good dog and everything but i want her to be perfect. Her coat isn't exactly show quality simply because it is very curly. Anyways she is housetrained and will sometimes obey sit and that is about it. I need Answers.

I read in a book that it should bathe Golden Retreivers about once every three months, maybe more often during the summer if they go swimming. I think 3 months is too long, they have a strong odor. Thanks!
