A few suggestions:

When she bites hard enough that it hurts, whine very loudly as another dog would do. She will most likely stop and look at you, and maybe tilt her head to the side in curiousity (that is what mine do, its so adorable). Keep doing this whenever she bites hard enough to hurt, and she should learn pretty quickly. This is how the mother teaches her pups, and many people believe it is the best training for that reason.

Use treats: First find some treats that she loves. Then hold one cupped in your hand (you may have to show it to her first, just dont let her have it) so she can smell it but not get to it. Hold your hand out in front of you and say 'no bite' or 'no chew' or something of the sort, it really doesnt matter what you say as long as you are consistent. You may have to say it a few times. The moment she stops pawing or biting, click your tongue or snap you fingers and give it to her, and be sure to give her plenty of praise. Work with her on this several times a day, every day, and she will probably catch on pretty quickly. You can also use the snapping or tongue clicking for other training, such as sit.

Also, she is probably teething, so invest in some good rubber toys. Ice cubes work well also, and you can put a rubber toy in the freezer until it gets good and cold and then give it to her.

A puppy biting can sometimes seem cute, but in the end is a problem that needs to be addressed quickly. When a puppy bites you, it is a sign of dominance. This is something puppies do with each other to find their dominance in the pack. Every time you allow your puppy to bite you, you are basically telling it that you are submissive to it.

There are many different ways to curb the habit and establish your dominance on the puppy (which is extremely important in terms of aggression, obedience, etc.) but my personal favorite is the following:

Every time the puppy bites you, pick it up by the armpits and hold it just below eye level. While you're looking it in the eyes, speak happily and calmly to it saying positive things like "good dog." What you are doing with this is putting the puppy in a very vulnerable position, while being gentle. This tells the puppy that although you could easily hurt it, you don't. Therefore you are a good person to be submissive to. Do this for no more than a minute at a time, regardless of how successful you are.

The desired behavior during this is for the puppy to go limp and look away. If the puppy struggles, it is fighting your dominance. We don't want that, but we won't keep the puppy up there any longer than if it submits. If we continue the training, it will eventually work. Patience is the name of the game here.

Biting in play? biting as in chewing on your hand, foot, household items?
Puppies kinda tend to do that

for attention mine used to grab onto my ankles i couldnt walk anywhere in the house without this puppy hanging off my ankle.

do u have safe items for the puppy to chew on, puppies are jsut like human babies , they get new teeth come through and need to bite onto things

if its getting too much and the puppy is a large breed of dog you shoudl start disciplining and training, when the puppy bites say in a deep voice "NO", ignore it for a few so it understands eventually that biting you is wrong and wont be tolerated , growl at the dog even to put it in its place

hows about u add some more details so we can help answer your questions better

she probably thinks that you are playing with her. I have the same problem with my puppy. I can't pet him cause he will bite me for some reason. So I try to correct him by saying NO! But he won't stop. I think he wants to be the dominant one and he is teething so he wants to bite and chew on everything.
I don't think your puppy is gonna be a mean dog. I don't believe that some dogs are just naturally mean. Just give her some chew toys so she can let out aggresion on the toys, not you.
good luck

when she bites you yell OWW very loud then walk away from her and stop playing with her. go back in 2-3 minutes and start to pet her again, if she bites again repeat the first part. this usually seems to work i wish you the best because nobody likes a biting puppy. good choice with the Australian shepherd

I do not think that there is anything wrong.
Puppies teethe. Much like babies. Mine does the same. Eventually they outgrow it.
I did ask a trainer at Petco what to do.. She said to mimic a yelp whenever the dog bites you. It seems to work. They think they hurt you, and they stop, if not.. I'd suggest getting alot of rawhides and chewtoys so it doesn't spend the time chewing on you instead!

All puppies bite, its a chewing need they have. Buy it some rawhide chews and gently teach it not to bite. Do not punish it, it is only doing what is natural. Once it learns to like the chews, which should happen quickly, it won't be a problem. If it starts to bite, have a chew handy and replace whatever/whoever it is biting with the chew. It will learn quickly. PLEASE DON'T PUNISH IT, ITS ONLY NATURAL.

This is a normal behavior, don't get too concerned about it.

You need to get it through to your puppy that the biting behavior will not be tolerated - ever. If puppy bites you withdraw your attention - every time.

Good luck with it.

To get your dog to stop bitting you have to bit him back everytime. Thats what would happen if his mom was still around
